Apex Legends Season 5 brings map changes and new mysteries

The Apex Legends Season 5 gameplay trailer dropped today and with it comes our newest quest… system. Respawn recently revealed their plans to add a quest system to the game. It’ll function differently to the daily and weekly missions players complete to level up and climb the Battle Pass. And what a better time to do so than when a master thief joins the crew?

Apex Legends Season 5 – Fortune’s Favor Gameplay Trailer

Loba will be leading the legends in a heist of sorts, to find “The Broken Ghost”. The quest will see the legends hunting for clues and uncovering treasure packs along the way. It looks like alongside this comes a new timed-defense mode where you face off against a pack of Prowlers.

Players will also have a section of the map to explore. King’s Canyon Unearthed is a sprawling dig-site with high-rise cranes and a giant wall closing you in. At the center we have some sort of drill reminiscent of those found on World’s Edge. The drill itself can be interacted with and may lead to unlocking areas of the map at a later date.

One can assume the “treasure” we’re hunting for is actually what remains of the real Revenant. We saw his disembodied head vanish from the factory in the reveal trailer, with no clues as to where it went. If the event goes the way I believe it will, we may very well see the canonical end of Revenant – though he would of course come back in one way or another. There might be a showdown between the lethal simulacrum and the vengeful thief in the works – but again, the trailer raises more questions than it answers.

Apex Legends Season 5 Skins

Aside from the new gameplay elements, we have Loba herself. We finally get to see her abilities in action, and she may prove to have one of the more flexible kits in the game on release.

Don’t forget the new Battle Pass either. With it will come a bunch of new skins – like this badass Desperado/explorer Mirage skin, as well as the Wingman skin that reminds me of the pistol from Control.

It seems that Apex Legends Season 5 may prove to be the biggest event yet. Fortune’s Favor drops on May 12, so be sure to get in early and explore everything the new season has to offer.

Also let me pick Loba dammit.
