While we here at SQUAD were busy with⦠other things, Apex Legendsā Season 6 trailer dropped and gave us a lot. Itās short and sweet, clocking in at just over a minute – but itās just as chaotic as previous trailers.
First off, they did my boy Octane dirty – showing him losing a leg even though Iām still reeling from him losing them both during the Season 5 questline.
Second off, we have our next Legend! Her name is Rampart and she comes with a cute little minigun named Sheila. It looks like Sheila can be mounted – not like that – as seen in the part of the trailer where Rampart is absolutely decimating the battlefield. Details are scarce at the moment, so weāll wait to see more.
*Disclaimer*
Sheila is a gun, and guns should not be considered cute under any circumstance. They are lethal weapons and should be treated as such.
New map? Cool new features? More money-dumps!
Something peculiar caught my eye: the giant shields that Bangalore is shooting from. These are either a new map feature or part of Rampartās kit. It looks like a one-way shield, which can be shot through by the squad, but deflects bullets from anyone else. It looks like it may even power-up shots that go through it, like Baptisteās Amplification Matrix in Overwatch.
This could be where the “boosted” part comes in, as Respawn thinks allĀ Apex Legends players are secretly boosted and will be giving them boosted rounds to help them play better.
The trailer also showed the giant rocket which will supposedly take us to the new Apex Legends map in Season 6. What effect thatāll have weāre not sure, but itās a big olā Hammond rocket, and everyone knows how much we hate Hammond.
Weāre also getting a new battle pass of course, with a new feature called āholo-spraysā which sounds awesome. Realistically theyāre just sprays, like any other battle royale has, but I have to hope that theyāre cooler. Speaking of new features – weāre also getting crafting apparently. Which sounds great and gives players a way to get new loot without gunning down anything that moves. Hopefully this doesnāt promote a bigger vulture culture than we already have, but I sadly know it will.Ā

And last but not least, we get a new gun! Itās the Volt SMG, a new energy gun. If youāve played Titanfall 2 then you know whatās up. We may also get a Caustic heirloom, but you didnāt hear it from me.Ā
GIVE ME MORE
At the moment, the website doesnāt say anything about a Season 6 questline. But if Respawn hopes to continue the hype surrounding the Broken Ghost then they better. And thatās a threat. There are still so many questions left unanswered. Maybe weāve already reached Olympus, and that big ass rocket is just there for something completely different that Iāll have to explore and speculate on like a crazy-person two weeks from now.Ā
Iām hoping that the new Season 6 quests will feature more in terms of gameplay. They were fun and all, but ultimately were really short and were just the same thing every time, the only heartbreak surprises stemming from us finding Wattson and Octane almost DEAD.
We’re also getting a new limited time mode from Aug. 11-18, so we’re not bored while waiting for Season 6.
