With the start of Apex Legends Season 8, Respawn added Fuse to the roster. Fuse is an assault character, full of nifty maneuvers that makes him a powerhouse. Before diving into the tips and tricks, let’s take a look at all of Fuse’s abilities in Apex Legends.
- Passive: Grenadier. Stack an extra grenade per inventory slot. Fire grenades farther, faster, and more accurately.
- Tactical: Knuckle Cluster. Launch a cluster bomb that continuously expels airburst explosives on impact.
- Ultimate: The Motherlode. Launch a bombardment that encircles a target area in a wall of flame.
Fuse’s passive ability is excellent for players who love to use grenades, because you can hold more of them. While that sounds great by itself, grenade users will love that Fuse has the ability to throw ‘nades farther, too. If you like to attack enemies from afar with explosives, Fuse’s passive ability makes him deadly.
The Knuckle Cluster is the ace in the hole for Fuse, because it’s so versatile. First off, launching the bomb into doors will cause them to burst open. If enemies are body-blocking an entrance, the Knuckle Cluster will clear them out.
Additionally, you can stick the Knuckle Cluster onto enemies for 50 damage. It’s an ability that many people (myself included) seem to forget about until you get stuck with it. Another fantastic aspect is that the bomb branches off into mini-explosions.
Fuse, Apex Legends best all-around character
Fuse’s ultimate, the Motherlode, can be deadly in many circumstances. It literally engulfs enemies in a ring of fire. In essence, the Motherlode is a massive thermal grenade that is a force to be reckoned with just by itself. Mixed with other Legend moves the Motherlode is even more powerful, and has quickly become my favorite ultimate in the game.
Using Horizon’s ultimate to bundle your opponents together and then launching the Motherlode traps them in a small area. This allows you to lay into them with everything else you’ve got. If you use Revenant’s Death Totem ultimate ability, you can rush into the circle without fear of dying.
Fuse makes Apex Legends feel like a new game for me. Not every character works; Rampart and Crypto are some that I think miss the mark when it comes to being memorable or functional. However, with Fuse Respawn completely knocked it out of the park. He leaves an excellent impression and makes it difficult to survive when pitted against him.
While you’ll need great aim with the Knuckle Cluster to stick an enemy, and you’ll require great teammates to utilize the Motherlode fully, Fuse is a Legend you don’t want to cross unprepared. Fortunately, Fuse is also easy to pick up and play, for when you get sick of being on the receiving end of his explosives.
