Which next gen console has the best exclusives?

Sorry, Nintendo.

Assuming you have friends, the biggest group chat conversation topic of the past month has probably been PlayStation vs Xbox. Up until know it was agreed that PlayStation had the best exclusives. How is Xbox going to compete with The Last of Us, God of War, Spider-Man, Final Fantasy XVI, and so many other giant games? Well, by flexing some real money, and purchasing ZeniMax Media for $7.5 billion. ZeniMax Media owns Bethesda, id Software, Arkane, and more. Now that The Elder Scrolls, Doom, Fallout, and Wolfenstein are stepping into the ring, who’s got the stronger roster of next gen console exclusives?

Not all of these IPs are confirmed releases for next gen console exclusives, so these are all speculative choices on potential future releases. We’re also omitting Nintendo Switch from this article because there’s no argument against it having the strongest roster of console exclusive franchises.

Playstation (PS5) exclusive IPs

  • God of War

Microsoft purchasing ZeniMax Media can compete with every PlayStation exclusive on its own. It’s also arguably a stronger RPG roster of games. To reiterate, this is the ZeniMax Media purchase alone. It’s not factoring in Halo, Fable, Forza Motorsport, and Avowed to name a few more.

It’s almost no argument at this point that Microsoft is now the owner of more high profile IPs than Sony, or at the very least that PlayStation has real competition in Xbox for potential exclusives. There’s always room for new IPs to come in, but as of right now, the speculative list of potential next gen console exclusive games are stronger on the Microsoft and Xbox side of the fence.
