Every PS5 title and release date announced so far

PlayStation’s Future of Gaming Show gave us a glimpse into the games we can expect for the PS5. The reveal event showcased heavy-hitting first-party titles like Marvel’s Spider-Man Miles Morales, Gran Turismo 7, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and Horizon Zero Dawn 2.

We also got to see Sony’s second-party lineup, including Sackboy A Big Adventure, Returnal, Destruction AllStars and the much-anticipated return of Demon’s Souls.

Rounding out the debuts were prominent third-party games, such as Hitman 3, Resident Evil Village and new IPs from Square Enix and Capcom. In total, more than two dozen PlayStation 5 games were shown during the event.

Gran Turismo 7

Publisher: PlayStation Studios | Developer: Polyphony Digital | Release Date: TBD

Is it a PS5 exclusive? Yes

With over 80 million lifetime franchise sales, Gran Turismo is, perhaps unsurprisingly, Sony’s biggest PlayStation IP. Following the online-focused Gran Turismo Sport, the next GT entry looks to be a full-fledged sequel reintroducing the best features from past installments along with new modes and updates.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart

Publisher: PlayStation Studios | Developer: Insomniac Games | Release Date: TBD

Is it a PS5 exclusive? Yes

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart‘s gameplay demonstration served one main purpose: to showcase PS5’s ultra-fast SSD. In this latest adventure, Ratchet and Clank face a reality where dimensional fabrics are breaking down and worlds are collapsing on one another. The rapid transitions between worlds is stunning, but the bigger questions is, who’s this new female Lombax?

Sackboy A Big Adventure

Publisher: PlayStation Studios | Developer: Sumo Digital | Release Date: TBD

Is it a PS5 exclusive? Yes

Sackboy is back in an all-new 3D adventure with up to four players. Curiously, no level creation tools were shown, so it remains to be seen if this game will have a community component or if it’s a curated, story-focused platformer.

Astro’s Playroom

Publisher: PlayStation Studios | Developer: Japan Studios | Release Date: Holiday 2020

Is it a PS5 exclusive? Yes

Is it a PS5 exclusive? Yes

After months of rumours, Guerrilla Games gave us our first look at the sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn. It’s clear Forbidden West was meant as a graphical showcase of PS5, featuring some of the lushest environments ever seen in gaming. The trailer also introduces several new machines, including ones based on boars, turtles and woolly mammoths.

Destruction AllStars

Part Destruction Derby, part Fortnite, and part Rocket League, Destruction AllStars is Sony’s new vehicular combat sports title headed to PS5. It features a crazy cast of drivers pitted against one another in a warzone arena full of deadly hazards and explosions galore.

Demon’s Souls Remake

While the original was developed by FromSoftware, this new iteration comes from Bluepoint Games, the master of remakes and remasters, with their most recent title being the superb PS4 rendition of Shadow of the Colossus.

Returnal

Publisher: PlayStation Studios | Developer: Housemarque | Release Date: TBD

Is it a PS5 exclusive? Yes

For the past 24 years, Housemarque has mainly focused on high-quality arcade titles but that’s all about to change with Returnal, their first big budget AAA experience. You play the role of a female astronaut who crash-lands on a hostile alien planet and continuously experiences death and rebirth. With every revival, the roguelike world completely changes and a sinister plague progressively infects her mind.

Is it a PS5 exclusive? No. PS5 timed exclusive also coming to PC.

Project Athia will be the first game from Square Enix’s newly created Luminous Productions. The team is comprised of former members of the Final Fantasy XV team, so expectations for this new action-adventure game are high.

Is it a PS5 exclusive? No. PS5 timed exclusive also coming to PC.

This is second major look we’ve had at Ghostwire: Tokyo, the psychological thriller / action-adventure game from Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami. In a surprising twist, Bethesda announced Ghostwire will be PS5 console exclusive for an unspecified period of time.

Stray

Publisher: Annapurna | Developer: BlueTwelve Studio | Release Date: 2021

Is it a PS5 exclusive? No. PS5 timed exclusive also coming to PC.

Oddworld Soulstorm

The Oddworld series is back, this time as a timed console exclusive on PlayStation 5. Soulstorm presents an all-new story where Abe has to confront a terrifying new machination. It sets a new visual and cinematic benchmark for the series, which debuted on PS1 all the way back in 1997.

Is it a PS5 exclusive? No. PS5 timed exclusive also coming to PC.

From veteran indie studio Superbrothers (Sword & Sworcery EP) and a newly formed team called Pine Scented comes a new open-world exploration game called JETT: The Far Shore. You play as a scout named Mei who deploys to a mythic ocean planet to find the source of ‘the hymnwave’, an interstellar signal the beckons her homeworld.

Godfall

Publisher: Gearbox Publishing | Developer: Counterplay Games | Release Date: Holiday 2020

Is it a PS5 exclusive? No. PS5 timed exclusive also coming to PC.

This is the second big look at Godfall following the debut trailer at last year’s Game Awards. The gameplay showcase demonstrates the destructive combat and various weapons you’ll wield, including hammers, lances, clubs and dual blades.

Solar Ash

Publisher: Annapurna | Developer: Heart Machine | Release Date: 2021

Is it a PS5 exclusive? No. PS5 timed exclusive also coming to PC.

From the creators of Hyper Light Drifter comes Solar Ash, a new IP featuring a vivid, hyper-stylized world surrounded by mystery and danger. It certainly looks colorful, but what really stood out was the game’s high-speed movement that has you skate across the landscape at top speed.

Little Devil Inside

Publisher: Neostream Interactive | Developer: Neostream Interactive | Release Date: TBD

Is it a PS5 exclusive? No. PS5 timed exclusive also coming to PC.

Little Devil Inside looks… weird. The trailers depicts all kinds of oddities, like a scuba diver getting attacked by a giant octopus, a spelunker who drops a bomb into the mouth of a monster below, and, well, a guy sitting on the can reading a newspaper. While bizarre, the game looks fun (and funny).

Bugsnax

Publisher: Young Horses | Developer: Young Horses | Release Date: Holiday 2020

Is it a PS5 exclusive? No. PS5 timed exclusive also coming to PC.

Here’s another odd one. Bugsnax, from the makers for Octodad, sets you on Snacktooth Island where the legendary half-bug, half-snack creatures live. One such example is a sentient strawberry that walks around on its leaves. The funniest part of the trailer happens near the end, where a Walrus-like creature walks in with, umm, hot dog hands and a snail hairdo.

Deathloop

Publisher: Bethesda Softworks | Developer: Arkane Lyon | Release Date: Holiday 2020

Is it a PS5 exclusive? No. PS5 timed exclusive also coming to PC.

I guess time loop games will be all the rage on PS5 considering we saw Sony’s Returnal and now Bethesda’s Deathloop. In this game you play as an assassin that must take down eight targets before midnight. The catch is, you’re being hunted by a rival assassin and if you die, you have to replay the day back from the start.

Resident Evil Village

Publisher: Capcom | Developer: Capcom | Release Date: 2021

Is it a PS5 exclusive? No. Coming to PS5, Xbox Series X and PC.

Resident Evil Village, a.k.a. REVIII, looks to be an even bigger departure in the series than REVII. The first-person perspective is back, as is Ethan Winters (the protagonist from the previous game), who appears to be stuck in a village full of werewolves. The strangest part? Chris Redfield is seen at the end and he doesn’t exactly appear to be a good guy.

Pragmata

Publisher: Capcom | Developer: Capcom | Release Date: 2022

Is it a PS5 exclusive? No. Coming to PS5, Xbox Series X and PC.

Pragmata is a new IP from Capcom set for release in 2022. Not much is known about the game, but trailer shows a space explorer scanning a metropolitan street who sees two holographic girls, one of which then materializes into a person. Gravity then seems to suddenly “shut off”, and both the explorer and girl get blasted off to the moon.

NBA 2K21

Publisher: 2K Sports | Developer: Visual Concepts | Release Date: Fall 2020

Is it a PS5 exclusive? No. Coming to PS5, Xbox Series X and PC.

NBA 2K21 might just be the sweatiest game trailer yet. It shows NBA star Zion Williamson performing several shots and dunks, along with closeups of his face that look extremely detailed and real. Most impressively, the game is said to completely load within two seconds thanks to the PS5’s ultra-fast SSD.

Hitman 3

Is it a PS5 exclusive? No. Coming to PS5, Xbox Series X and PC.

Hitman 3 is the dramatic conclusion to the World of Assassination trilogy (which began with 2016’s Hitman). You once again play as Agent 47 and take on contracts in six different locations around the world, including Dubai as seen in the trailer.
