PlayStation State of Play recap: Resident Evil 3, Spellbreak, more

Check out everything unveiled for PS4 on the console's 25th anniversary

Another PlayStation State of Play is behind us, and this one is special. December 3 marked the 25 year anniversary of the PlayStation console, commemorated with a heartfelt message from Ken Kutaragi. While celebrating a long legacy of gaming history, lets look forward to what is in store for PS4 games in the coming months!

State of Play | 10th December 2019

A closed beta of fantasy battle royale Spellbreak is coming to PS4 in the Spring of 2020. Spellbreak is currently available on PC through the Epic Games Store. In other action news, Predator Hunting Grounds will arrive on April 24, delivering some intense asymmetrical stealth shooter gameplay. We also got a first look at Babylon’s Fall gameplay, showing off its technical combat mechanics. We will have more information on Babylon’s Fall in Summer 2020.

New releases and beloved classics

This State of Play episode featured a record number of beautiful, confusing, and beautifully confusing titles. Media Molecule’s Dreams looked like something quite literally out of a dream, and it arrives on PS4 on Feb. 14, 2020. Superliminal and the VR-designed PaperBeast are two other titles which caught our eye with their interesting and minimalistic visuals. Neither has a release date yet, but we should expect both to drop on PS4 in 2020.

Some great classic franchise additions are on the way as well. Kingdom Hearts Re:Mind is on its way to PS4, set to arrive on Jan. 23. Resident Evil 3 will arrive on shortly after on April 3, including the Resistance multiplayer mode. RE3 Resistance is an asymmetrical strategy-action hybrid that is very different from the original game.

Project Resistance - Gameplay Overview (UK)

Those who have been eagerly awaiting news on Ghost of Tsushima since last year’s E3 got a little treat. This PlayStation State of Play ended with a short teaser for the game. Don’t worry, a complete trailer is coming at this year’s Game Awards on Dec. 12.

Last but not least, prepare to once more annoy people, honk and steal and hoard common items. Untitled Goose Game is headed to PS4 on Dec. 17.
