Destiny 2

Falling Guillotine, Dark Drinker’s cousin | Destiny 2

Dark Drinker has returned to us in Destiny 2 in the form of Falling Guillotine, one of the new legendary swords in Season of the Arrivals. Even after its nerf, it is still one of the strongest heavy weapons, pairing well with Ward of Dawn and Well of Radiance for close range damage phases on bosses. So, what is the god roll for Falling Guillotine in Destiny 2, and what perks should you be looking out for?

Best perks

When it comes to swords, the god roll is always the combo of Relentless Strikes and Whirlwind Blade. This pair of perks is optimal for damage output. Relentless Strikes allows you to regain ammo off of light attacks, which you will be weaving in to your combo while the heavy attack is on cooldown. And Whirlwind Blade allows you to get a stacking damage buff upon landing sword strikes.

That combo of perks is the best you can do for using swords against bosses and champions. If you want to focus on clearing lesser enemies with swords, Surrounded and Tireless Blade are strong picks. When it comes to blade perks, it boils down to personal preference. I like Honed Edge because it gives a flat buff to impact and damage without costing ammo like Jagged Edge. Honed Edge gives you an increase to the impact stat, which results in more damage.

My roll

I was blessed enough to get a solid roll on my first drop from an Umbral Engram. On the other hand, some of my buddies are on their 50th drop and have yet to get a solid roll.

Relentless Strikes and Whirlwind Blade is honestly the best possible perk combo you can get on any sword. This sword is truly one of the few heavy weapons that I run right now. Any boss with close quarters damage will be melted swiftly when combined with Well of Radiance or Ward of Dawn. Falling Guillotine carried me the through the first encounter of the Prophecy Dungeon.

Is Falling Guillotine one of the strongest weapons in Destiny 2 currently? Yes. Does it make swords more viable as DPS weapons? Possibly. And did I mention you can spin like a freaking Beyblade? Hell yeah.
