Mobile gaming is growing faster year after year. 2021 saw many new games coming to mobile devices, and 2022 has its own share of promising titles lined up. If you would like to team up with friends and play together, here are five interesting new MMO games coming out on mobile in 2022 you shouldn’t miss.
According to its official website, Chrono Odyssey is a “spacetime epic fantasy MMORPG.” Under that nebulous classification is a Korean MMORPG featuring large-scale battles with music from Cris Velasco, composer for Overwatch and God of War.
Chrono Odyssey tells the story of the Idraiginn organization, which needs to battle against no less than 12 gods. Gameplay-wise, Chrono Odyssey features realm vs realm battles, randomly generated dungeons, and 18 crafting jobs. This MMORPG is available on iOS and Android, as well as consoles and PC.
Aion 2 is the sequel to Aion, a popular MMORPG from 2008 which became free-to-play eventually. Unlike its predecessor, this new MMORPG will only be available on mobiles. The story of Aion 2 will take place 900 years before the event of the original game, before the Elyos and Asmodians even existed.
Aion 2 is mainly a PvP MMORPG. Aion’s main pitch is that PvP fights in the game not only happen on the ground but also in the air, as all characters have wings allowing them to fly around.
Diablo Immortal is a free-to-play MMOARPG bringing the universe of Blizzard’s series to mobiles. When the game was first announced at BlizzCon 2018, players were not that thrilled by the idea of a mobile Diablo. However, almost four years later, Diablo Immortal is shaping up to be better than anticipated.
Following the feedback of its first Alpha, Diablo Immortal is bringing changes to its PvE and PvP modes. The game now features PvE raids and dungeons, as well as ranked PvP and large-scale faction-based battlegrounds. If Blizzard manages to bring the MMO mechanics of World of Warcraft and mix them with Diablo’s atmosphere, Diablo Immortal could be one of the best mobile MMO games coming out in 2022.
The Ragnarok, previously known as Project Ragnarok, is a mobile MMORPG developed by mobile juggernaut NetEase Games. Players will need to stop the end of the world, also known as the Ragnarok in Norse mythology. To do so, players will roam around Midgar, fighting off various threats hiding in forests, caves, and cities. Oh, and you also have wings here, too.
Moonlight Blade is an upcoming mobile MMO developed by Tencent. The game is set in a huge fantasy world, with over 15 different zones on a map bigger than the one of Skyrim. The combat is based around martial arts combined with magic powers.
In January 2017, Tencent said that the game would be getting an English version. Almost five years later, we are still waiting for it. Fingers crossed we will have more information about a Western version of Moonlight Blade in 2022.
