Just because we can go back outside and see our friends in real life doesn’t mean we don’t need more multiplayer games. Microsoft continues to push gaming forward with brand new games, most of them exclusive to the Xbox. Here is a selection of 5 great multiplayer games coming out in 2022 on Xbox, either for last-gen Xbox One or the Series X/S.
Kerbal Space Program 2
Kerbal Space Program is finally getting a sequel, six years after its original release. Kerbal Space Program 2 keeps the foundations of the first game: players build their own space program and design spacecraft to explore the universe. This sequel also brings new elements to the formula, like the colonies – settlements on planets with their own resource managing challenges.
Kerbal Space Program is an iconic space flight simulation game, and its sequel will likely live up to the hype. If Kerbal Space Program 2 stays true to the original game but with the addition of multiplayer, it could turn out as one of the best multiplayer games of 2022.
Ark 2
Ark 2 is the sequel to Ark: Survival Evolved, the popular survival MMO filled with dinosaurs. Vin Diesel plays the lead role of this new game, fighting a mysterious threat with his tribe. We don’t know much more about Ark 2 at this time, with only a reveal trailer to feed our speculations.
Ark 2 is an Xbox exclusive and will come out in 2022.
Frozen Flame
In Frozen Flame, the world is dying and you as the player awaken from a long slumber to save it. The world of Arkana is under the threat of the titular Frozen Flame, a mysterious power hellbent on turning the world into a cold, hostile place swarming with great beasts looking for a snack.
Frozen Flame is more geared toward PvE than other games on this list, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t ways to mess with other players. You can choose to save the world and uncover the secrets of Arkana, or to prevent others from doing do so instead, resigning the world to its frosty fate.
Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown
Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown is the latest entry in the 2006 racing franchise. This new edition heads to Hong Kong, where players will compete in the city and its natural surroundings.
Unlike other racing games, Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown has an open world, meaning you can freely drive outside of the race tracks. The game is also geared towards multiplayer, with two opposing factions: the Sharps and the Streets. Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown may not have as many cars as Forza Horizon 5, but it still features iconic luxury brands like Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, and Bugatti.
ExoMecha
ExoMecha is a free-to-play battle royale FPS featuring shiny mechs and vehicles. Players can customize their character build to fit their playstyle, and edit their mech loadout before the start of a match. When the battle begins, ExoMecha turns into a fast-paced multiplayer FPS with giant mechs – including a fire-breathing chrome dragon.
