5 of the biggest new PC games coming out in 2022

Just take my money!

With the pandemic pushing major release dates back across the board, 2022 is shaping up to be one of the biggest years for PC games launches in history. We have huge sequels – spiritual and otherwise – popping onto the scene, and AAA studios releasing exciting new IPs. Let’s check out some of the biggest new PC games coming out in 2022.

The Callisto Protocol

It’s crazy to think that Dead Space first came out back in 2008. 14 years later, Dead Space creator Glen Schofield is looking to make us all collectively poop our pants again.

The Callisto Protocol is looking to be a proper spiritual sequel to the iconic Dead Space series, and one really scary game. There aren’t many details known so far, aside from the bizarre hammering down of the fact that The Callisto Protocol is based in the PUBG expanded universe.

Elden Ring

Elden Ring will be peak Soulslike, giving the namesake its run for its money. Long labeled the spiritual successor to the Dark Souls series, Elden Ring is written by series runner Hidetaka Miyazaki and George R.R Martin as the key world builder at his side. D&D seasons aside, Game of Thrones was a literary and television masterpiece, so it’s safe to assume that Elden Ring’s high fantasy world will be expansive and engrossing enough for players to lose themselves in.

Elden Ring looks to take on some key qualities from Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, as well as incorporating new elements to the game through mounted travel and combat, stealth, summoning abilities, and the ability to learn new skills rather than leveling up a skill tree.

ELDEN RING - Gameplay Preview

It turns out that Redfall wasn’t code for The Elder Scrolls VI after all. It’s OK, we all make mistakes. While those expectations would be disappointing for some, Redfall is shaping up to be an exciting vampire-hunting 4-player co-op game from immersive sim masters Arkane. With its open world concept, it sounds like a blend of Back 4 Blood and Borderlands.

From the creators of Skyrim and Fallout 4, Starfield is looking to make waves with Bethesda touting this as their next crown jewel. In typical Bethesda fashion, the publisher is saying all the right things without showing much. If the formula says anything, we’ll spend hours customizing our character only for it to be hidden in a spacesuit, possibly get lost in an underground cave system on an alien planet, and have fellow NPCs regale us with stories or asking for Spacerolls or the space version of Skooma.

There isn’t much info on Starfield aside from the three in-game destinations, its Nov. 11, 2022 release date, and that players will get to solve humanity’s greatest mystery. Let’s just get ahead of the game and say players will be pissed if the answer to the ultimate question of life and the universe is a certain number.

Hogwarts Legacy

Hogwarts Legacy will be the biggest Harry Potter Universe video game of all time. This open-world RPG set in the 1800s will allow players to customize their own character to take part in classes, explore the Hogwarts grounds, and encounter magical and mystical beasts. The stakes are high in this game as you play a character with unique innate magical abilities that connect to Ancient magic that others cannot tap into.
