2022 is looking very promising for gamers fond of strategy and tactics. There are a number of interesting new strategy games set to release in 2022, ranging from medieval warfare to hospital management sims.

Songs of Conquest

Total War: Warhammer III

The TW Warhammer saga is back with the third installment. Much like the previous games, Total War: Warhammer III is a turn-based strategy and tactics wargame where players get to move their armies across the map and create settlements. Players can wage indiscriminate warfare, or use diplomacy to forge temporary truces.

The game features a custom battle mode where players will get to create customized real-time battles and even multiplayer battles. There aren’t many details yet about the main campaign, but we do know that it will take place within the Realm of Chaos.

War Hospital

Not interested in waging war? How about dealing with what happens during and after a war?

War Hospital will have you control a British World War 1 field hospital, making sure your patients live to see another day, or at least making their passing a less painful experience. In this game, you will manage resources, staff, and patients to make your hospital a successful one.

Diplomacy is Not an Option

The title says it all. In this strategy game, you are a feudal lord who has grown tired of the ordinary life of feasting, hunting, and jousting, and yearns for the excitement of battle. That said, Diplomacy is Not an Option does seem to feature a lot of economy and city management mechanics.

Highrise City

Ever played Sim City? If you have, then Highrise City may feel familiar. In Highrise City, you will be managing a town with thousands of inhabitants. It is up to you to decide whether you want it to keep it small and quaint, or turn that little town into the biggest metropolis in the world.

Sea Power: Naval Combat in the Missile Age

If you are a Cold War fan, then Sea Power might check a lot of boxes. The game is set between the 1960s and 80s and it focuses on naval combat engagements between NATO and the Warsaw Pact nations.

Developers Triassic Games AB took inspiration from EA’s Strike Fleet and Fleet Command, so the expectations are quite high for this one.

Project Haven

Project Haven is one of the games I’m most excited about. It is a strategy and tactics game with an RPG twist.

In Project Haven, players will take control of the Steel Dragons, a group of mercenaries who decide to make a living in Haven City. They take on difficult missions of varying nature, such as harassing corrupt government forces, fighting criminals, and other unsavory tasks. Basically, they will do anything provided the pay is good.

You will have to control this group’s resources and ensure they grow to become a successful mercenary outfit in the city’s highly competitive environment. You will have to learn how to target your enemies’ weaknesses and muscle them out of your way. How you do it is up to you. All in all, Project Haven looks quite promising.

Prehistoric Kingdom

In Prehistoric Kingdom, you will be remaking history with the power of technology. You will be manage your own park and using DNA from creatures that lived hundreds of millions of years in the past. Yes, it sounds a lot like Jurassic World.

In Prehistoric Kingdom, players will design, build, and decorate habitats with a selection of powerful creative tools. They will carve out rivers into the terrain, raise mountains from the ground, and grow entire forests, so that their dinosaurs may feel at home. Dinosaurs of all sizes will co-exist in the park, and it is your job to ensure everything is safe and in order. Of course, this might prove to be quite challenging.

If that isn’t enough to convince you, then Prehistoric Kingdom has one more promising feature up its sleeve. Players will get to mess with the genetics and DNA of their dinosaurs to create entirely new species.

Company of Heroes 3

Yet another Company of Heroes game is coming out and I for one am very excited about it. I have always been very fond of history, so playing a game set at the time the Allied Forces invaded Italy and North Africa is a pretty thrilling proposition for me.

Company of Heroes 3 - Official Cinematic Announcement Trailer

Company of Heroes 3 is similar to its predecessors in the franchise, but there are also some notable differences. For one, it will have a Tactical Pause system, allowing players to pause mid-battle and adjust troop commands.
