7 awesome action games coming out in 2020

Hello my fellow gamers! Are you stuck at home and looking for something fun to do with your time? Is reading not your thing? In that case, I got something else for you: some of the best action games to play in 2020. We’re going to explore quite a few games, with all sorts of plots and gameplay, so without further ado, let’s get right to it!

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II

Senua’s adventure continues! I played Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice back in 2017, and was completely absorbed by it. It was thrilling that I just couldn’t stop playing! The myths, the craziness, the graphics… everything about this game was perfect, and if the sequel is half as good as the first one, I will still be pleased!

Last time, Senua ventured into Helheim, risking her life and her sanity, in order to save her lover Dillion.
No one yet knows what the plot for the sequel will be, as the developers are keeping it a secret. Nevertheless, they shared a glimpse into the sequel through this epic trailer.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps

If you played and liked Ori and the Blind Forest, then you will probably enjoy the sequel Ori and the Will of the Wisps. In the new Ori game, players follow a puzzle-filled plot, centered on a new adventure to discovering the world beyond the forest of Nibel, all the while uncovering the truth of the lost ones. Ori himself must discover his true destiny.

The game offers a ton of new features and things to do over the first installment, including a more complex skill system, and massive boss fights.

Doom Eternal

Doom Eternal is a direct sequel to 2016’s Doom, and it is set for release in 2 days! Players will once again control the Doom Slayer, a warrior who fights off demonic forces from Hell.

Like previous Doom games, Eternal is all about keeping the things that make the franchise great, and adding more craziness to them. That means more demon carnage, with bigger guns, on a devastated world that is itself a giant arena.

Doom Eternal will also feature a revamped deathmatch mode, and possibly a Dark Souls-style invasion system – although the latter has not been confirmed for the game’s launch build.

Marvel’s Avengers

Nothing says action like superhero games. And Square Enix has brought us Marvel’s Avengers for that purpose. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m definitely into the idea of controlling some of the Earth’s mightiest heroes!

The story begins in San Francisco, where things go horribly sideways for the Avengers, resulting in a traumatic fall in public trust – events somewhat foreshadowed in Captain America: Civil War. Time goes by, and the Avengers are disbanded and even outlawed. But then, a new threat arrives and the team must get back together in order to save humanity from total demise for like, the 68th time.

Halo Infinite

It’s so nice to be able to play Halo again.  The latest chapter, Halo Infinite will release later in 2020, and be available on next-gen consoles. I am very excited about it.

If you are unfamiliar with the story so far, you have some catching up to do. Halo Infinite is the follow-up of Master Chief’s story in the “Reclaimer Saga” chapter of Halo 5: Guardians. It is presumed to be the last chapter, and according to the developers, it will be a very “humane” game.

Half-Life: Alyx

For those of you who like VR games, Half-Life: Alyx is something to look forward to. It’s a first-person shooter from Valve, and takes place before the events of Half-Life 2. Players will assume the role of Alyx Vance.

Players will be able to use VR to interact with every element of the environment around them, and fight off enemies, using gravity gloves to manipulate objects. Much like the previous game, players can expect to do quite a bit of exploration and puzzle-solving, and quite a lot of combat.

Twin Mirror

A new game that is piquing my curiosity is Twin Mirror. I am so curious about this one, in fact, that I’m including it on my action games list even though it’s not really an action game. Bear with me!

The story surrounds Sam, a man who returns to his old hometown to attend his best friend’s funeral service. Everything seems quite ordinary, up until the point where Sam wakes up covered in blood, with no memories of the previous day.

Dontnod Entertainment promised a game full of tough decisions that change the course of the game, and players in Twin Mirror will have to do their best to find the best possible ending.
