2020 has already been a big year for new games releases. We are not even halfway and we already got a bunch of great games, such as Warzone, Zombie Army 4, Ori and the Will O’ the Wisps, and so many more. Naturally, I am incredibly excited for new upcoming video games and so I’m sharing with you guys the top upcoming games of June 2020!
The Last of Us Part 2
Those of you who read my articles on a regular basis already know this, but I am the number one fan of The Last of Us. I absolutely love the game and so, when Naughty Dog announced the sequel, I was beyond excited. It was set to be released sooner, but the pandemic situation pushed the release date back to June 19!
The story for this sequel is set 5 years after Joel and Ellie’s first journey through post-apocalypse America. They are now living in a thriving community of survivors, but then something unexpected happens, which forces Ellie to embark on yet another adventure.
The Outer Worlds
Second on this top upcoming games for June 2020 list is The Outer Worlds. This is an action role-playing video game from a first-person perspective and it’s all about exploring the furthest reaches of space. Pretty cool, huh?
Okay, so I get that, technically, this game was released mid last year to PC, but is it’s finally coming to Nintendo Switch, and I feel like it definitely deserves a spot on this list.
You’ll start off the game by creating your own character and then unlocking your ship. Then it’s time to set out on a new adventure. And by adventure, I mean meeting new possible companions with their own unique missions and background stories, and fighting off many, many enemies along the way. You can even develop your social skills to persuade, lie, and intimidate your way out of trouble.
Ninjala
If you are a fan of Naruto – or any other ninja-related franchise, really – you should take a look at Ninjala. Ninjala is a game centered around a big ninja tournament, pitting payers against each other in a giant urban arena. It looks like a cute version of Bleeding Edge, although it’s also plenty different.
Aspiring ninjas get to use a lot of tools, from simple melee attacks to cool ninjutsu moves and wallrunning. Ninjala also has an 8-player battle royale mode! The best part is that it seems to be a pretty relaxed game, so for those players done with all the toxicity and stress that comes with competitive games, Ninjala seems like a good alternative.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III
This is a sequel to two other Trails of Cold Steel games, centered around Rean Schwarzer – who is now a military professor – and his students. Trails of Cold Steel III is a JRPG with loads battles and twists.
Plus, to surprise players that have played the previous games, there are new Orbment and Order systems. That’s all I’m saying, since I don’t want to spoil it for you.
Death Come True
Looking for a virtual version of Clue? Well, you’ve got Death Come True. It seems to be a pretty cool adventure game, featuring loads of puzzles and mysteries, and a twisted serial killer. Sure, there are many games of this sort, but this one has a different twist: it’s an FMV game, meaning you’ll be playing a full-motion video game.
The player will be impersonating the serial killer Makoto Karaki, who finds themselves in an unfamiliar place after losing their memory. It’s the player’s job to undo the wrong that has been done.
Disintegration
So, at first glance you might think this to be a regular FPS game, but it’s very far from that. Disintegration was created by one of Halo’s creators, who has managed to create something quite unique.
Disintegration is a post-apocalyptic sci-fi game which merges an unlocked axis FPS (remember Descent anyone?) with an RTS. Players have access to gravycicles, weapons and unique abilities as they control squads of soldiers and mechs through a story campaign that actually seems… kind of interesting and original?
As a Halo fan, I can say that I am definitely looking forward to this one.
Burnout Paradise Remastered
Burnout Paradise is a 2008 racing video game by EA, and its Remastered version is coming out on June 19. Like the original, the Remastered version will be set on Paradise City, an open world where players can compete in countless races. Players will be allowed to choose between playing the offline mode, or racing online with friends and players all over the world.
Burnout Paradise Remastered brings a new feature as well: the ability to race with motorcycles!
Spirit Hunter: No Good
Last on our list of upcoming games for June 2020 is Spirit Hunter. This adventure game is all about hunting spirits, investigating haunted places, and looking for clues.
The game is full of crisis choices, where the player has to make decisions in a short period of time, facing dire consequences if they fail. In this regard, Spirit Hunter: No Good reminds me of Man of Medan, and I really appreciate this feature of the game. There are also a lot of side quests to keep the fun going for quite a while.
