How to play Beidou in Genshin Impact

Beidou is the leader of an elite pirate fleet based out of Liyue, and an underrated Electro character in Genshin Impact. She uses a claymore to swipe through crowds of enemies, and can deal out massive amounts of Electro damage, all while protecting herself. This is a complete guide to the pirate Beidou in Genshin Impact.

Beidou’s attacks and skills in Genshin Impact

Attack: Oceanborne – Beidou’s basic attack is a 5-part swing with her claymore, which drains her stamina over time and unleashes a powerful strike at the end of the chain. Her charged attack can be used to knock enemies back or over edges, causing them to fall to their death.

Elemental Skill: Tidecaller – Tidecaller is Beidou’s Elemental Skill, with two options on how it can be used: single burst or charged. The single burst of Tidecaller has Beidou swinging her claymore forward and unleashing a moderate amount of Electro damage with it. If the ability is charged, she creates a shield around herself, absorbing incoming damage and converting a portion of it to Electro damage when released.

Elemental Burst: Stormbreaker – Beidou calls upon monstrous strength to surround herself in electricity and inflict Electro damage to anyone she or her team attacks. The floating Electro buff will transfer to any character on her team, and can even chain between targets. While the ability is active, characters take reduced damage and are less likely to be stunned.

Beidou’s Passive Talents

Retribution: Ascension 1 – Counter Attacking with Tidecaller at the precise moment when the character is hit grants the maximum DMG Bonus.

Leviathan’s Protection: Ascension 4 – Damage done by normal and charged attacks is increased by 15% as is the attack speed of both attacks 10 seconds after Tidecaller is used with the maximum damage bonus. This also reduces the delay before a charged attack is used.

Conqueror of Tides: Decreases all party member’s swimming stamina consumption by 20%.

Constellations

C1: Sea Beast’s Scourge – When Stormbreaker is used, Beidou gains a shield that uses 16% of her max health for 15 seconds. The shield absorbs Electro damage 250% more effectively.

C2: Upon the Turbulent Sea, the Thunder Arises – Stormbreaker’s arc lightning can jump 2 additional targets.

C3: Summoner of Storm– Increases the level of Tidecaller by three, and the maximum level is 15.

C4: Stunning Revenge– Within 10s of taking DMG, Beidou’s Normal Attacks gain 20% additional Electro DMG.

C5: Crimson Tidewalker– Increases the level of Stormbreaker by three, and the maximum level is 15.

C6: Bane of Evil– During the duration of Stormbreaker, the Electro RES of surrounding enemies is decreased by 15%.

Artifacts & Builds

Beidou needs to deal damage, and the more often you can use Tidecaller, the more Electro damage she will deal consistently. Artifacts like Gladiator’s Finale are optimal to have because they will increase base damage, and the 2 set bonus is an 18% increase in attack power. The 4 set bonus isn’t worth it, and opt for two Exile pieces. The 2 set Exile bonus is a 20% reduction in Elemental Skill recharge, allowing her to absorb damage and dish out powerful Electro charged attacks.

As for weapons, the Prototype Animus is an ideal choice since it is not hard to acquire more of them for refining. The sword’s skill is a 50% chance to increase the attack damage multiplier of normal and charged attacks.

Beidou can have a bit of a learning curve when it comes to finding the optimal time to use her ability in Genshin Impact. Once she has leveled artifacts and a refined sword, she is a deadly Electro DPS character.
