Canis Major is a new heavy grenade launcher in Season of the Lost. Dealing solar damage, it is a Rapid-Fire frame, giving more ammo reserves and a faster reload when the magazine is empty. Here are the perks and rolls you should look for on Canis Major in Destiny 2.
Perks and rolls
Grenade Launcher barrel perks don’t make or break the weapon. Any of them will make due, as long as they don’t drastically drop your stats. For magazine perks, Spike Grenades is the go-to. It increases stability while also adding more damage on direct hits.
There are plenty of good choices in the first column. Clown Cartridge overfills the mag, increasing the number of shots you can get off. Surplus and Field Prep will help with reload speed. Impulse Amplifier helps with reload speed while also increasing the velocity of the grenades.
Vorpal Weapon is the top perk in the second column for the added boss damage. Chain Reaction is an interesting pickup and drastically helps with clearing lower-tier enemies. If you are looking for damage-boosting perks, then Kill Clip and Rampage are your options.

Verdict
With the right roll, Canis Major is a solid feeling heavy grenade launcher. We haven’t had one that felt this good since Swarm of the Raven. However, this weapon class is currently not in the meta for DPS phases. If you do get a god roll, I recommend throwing it in the vault until heavy grenade launchers are buffed again.
