Garchomp & Giratina-GX is one of the best Expanded decks in Pokemon TCG Online, and also the best Dragon deck in Expanded, surpassing the Standard-format king ADP/Z, which is hard-countered by Ranger in Expanded.
Garchomp & Giratina-GX (because of Calamitous Slash) and Naganadel & Guzzlord-GX (because of its Ability and GX attack) are both great cards on their own, but Fairy types being discontinued in the game makes them even better because of their Weaknesses.
In this guide, I’ll be taking you through the best Garchomp & Giratina-GX deck list for Pokemon TCG Online, some gameplay demonstrating how the deck works, and an explanation for each card in the deck.

Some of the cards that aren’t underlined don’t directly benefit this deck’s strategy, but are really good to have and are some of the staple cards in the Expanded format in Pokemon TCG Online. N, Professor’s Research, Crobat V, and Dedenne-GX help you draw more cards. Chaotic Swell is great to have, just to mess up your opponent’s Stadium strategy.
Putting damage counters to power up Garchomp & Giratina-GX
You ideally want Garchomp & Giratina-GX on your Bench on your first turn, with one Energy attached. Its Calamitous Slash can do 240 damage if your opponent already has damage counters on it, which is enough to one-shot meta cards like PikaRom. Add +20 to it with Muscle band, and you have a two-Energy attachment attack that does 260 damage.
Calamitous Slash (160+): If your opponent’s Active Pokémon already has any damage counters on it, this attack does 80 more damage.
To achieve that, we use two Pokemon. First is Galarian Zizagoon, which puts 1 damage counter (10 damage) on any opposing Pokemon you choose. You can repeat this effect using the Scoop Up Net Item card.
The more efficient way to do this is by using Roxie. When Roxie discards Koffing, you put 1 damage counter on each of your opponent’s Pokemon. You can also repeat this using Rescue Stretcher. On top of that, Roxie also draws you 3 cards for each Koffing you discard in this way.
It’s very easy to meet the 240-damage requirement with this deck. You’ll almost always have Galarian Zigzagoon or Koffing + Roxie in your hand when you need it. Hypnotoxic Laser or Koga’s Trap can also help you Poison your opponent, which will add damage counters on them between turns.
How Naganadel & Guzzlord-GX works
Naganadel & Guzzlord-GX has a great ability that lets you heal it for 60 damage every time you discard a Pokemon from your hand. Exeggcute lets you take full advantage of this Ability, with its own Ability to resurrect itself from the Discard Pile whenever you want.
This is also helpful when you want to discard cards using Items like Computer Search or Ultra Ball. Your Battle Compressor will help you find and discard these Exeggcutes in the first place. Do this as soon as possible to thin out your deck so that you can pull the more useful cards quickly.
Naganadel & Guzzlord-GX also has an insane GX attack. Since you can only use one GX attack per match, I recommend using this one, even though Garchomp & Giratina-GX has a decent one too.
Chaotic Order-GX: Turn all of your Prize cards face up. (Those Prize cards remain face up for the rest of the game.) If this Pokémon has at least 1 extra Psychic Energy and 1 extra Darkness Energy attached to it (in addition to this attack’s cost), take 2 Prize cards. (You can’t use more than 1 GX attack in a game.)
This is an absolute match-winning attack, and all you need is two Energy attachments.
Using and recycling Special Energy
This deck uses Double Dragon Energy and Lightning Energy only. This makes it so that you only need a maximum of 2 Energy attachments for each of your GX cards. One of each is sufficient to power both- Calamitous Slash and Chaotic Order-GX.
Special Charge helps you recycle these Energies, and Trainer’s Mail, Tapu Lele-GX and VS Seeker help you recycle Supporters. Trainer’s Mail also helps you draw Item cards that you may need – like Special Energy.
