The Crown Tundra brought Regirock, Regice, Registeel, and Regigigas back into the game. Not only that, but we have two new Regi Pokemon, which are Regieleki and Regidrago. Like always the way to catch these Pokemon is hidden behind puzzles you must solve.
In this article I will be telling you how to find and catch Regirock.
First you must go to the Crown Tundra and do the introductory storyline. To get to the Crown Tundra fly to Wedgehurst Station and talk to the guy in the green vest. Then select the Crown Tundra Station and you will be thrown into the story. You must finish the Dynamax adventure and then go with Peony to setup your base.
Then Peony will give you The Legendary Giants quest, which leads you to the Regi Pokemon.
To find Regirock you must go to the temple it resides in. Regirock’s temple is deep in Giant’s Bed. In order to get there make your way towards the Old Cemetery. Once there, go through the Old Cemetary and continue going downhill. At the bottom of the hill you will see an open area to your left. Go down there and you will see Regirock’s temple.
At the temple press A on the door. This will allow you to use the temple as a flight point. Along with this you will get a clue on how to open the door. It will say “Let the first Pokemon hold a never-changing stone.” The stone this riddle is referring to is an Everstone, which prevents the Pokemon who holds it from evolving.
If you do not have an Everstone, they are easy to find. The easiest way to get an Everstone is to fly to Turrfield, which is the town with the grass type gym leader. Go right from the Pokemon Center and down the first ramp. Then take a left and you can find an Everstone next to these mossy rocks.
Other ways to get Everstones include using the move Thief against Roggenrola in the Galar Mine. Or talk to the Digger Brothers that are next to the Wild Area Nursery if you want to try your luck.
Preparing to catch Regirock
Before going into battle, make sure you are prepared. Have plenty of Max Potions and Revives to keep your Pokemon alive if you get unlucky. Along with those you will need plenty of Pokeballs. You can bring Quick Balls, Timer Balls, Dusk Balls, Ultra Balls, or whatever Pokeball of choice. The ones with the best capture rate are Timer Balls after 8 turns have passed, Dusk Balls at night, and Quick Balls but only on the first turn of battle.
As for your Pokemon team you want Pokemon level 70 or above, as Regirock is level 70. Make sure to bring a strong False Swiper so you can get Regirock to 1 hp safely. You will also need a move that can inflict paralysis or sleep, as these status effects will increase the chances of catching Regirock.
The best False Swipers are Gallade, Zeraora, Venusaur, Parasect, and Mew. As these can all learn False Swipe and a status inducing move.
It is also worth it to bring a Pokemon with Taunt since Regirock has Curse. This move is only a problem while you are trying to chip down Regirock’s health. Gallade, Zeraora, and Mew can all learn Taunt allowing them to be your all in one Pokemon. Remember to still bring a full team of Pokemon with you, just in case some of them get knocked out.
Regirock’s other moves are Hammer Arm, Superpower, and Stone Edge.
Now onto engaging in battle with Regirock – which is not shiny locked, by the way, so feel free to hunt for a shiny one. Give the first Pokemon in your party an Everstone and talk to the temple door. It will then open and you will see a room with a bunch of circles on the floor. Step over each circle once to make them light up Once they are all lit up then the statue will turn in.
Before talking to the statue, make sure to save your game in case something goes wrong. Then talk to the statue and Regirock will attack.
Once in battle you will want to paralyze Regirock and Taunt it to prevent it from using Curse. Remember to reapply Taunt every three turns. Then start chipping its health down with False Swipe or other moves. Just make sure to only use False Swipe when Regirock goes into red hp. Now you can start throwing your Pokeball of choice at it. The capturing process will take a while, but eventually you will get a Regirock of your own!
