How to farm for Kujou Sara in Genshin Impact

Preparing you to serve the Shogun

The Raiden Shogun’s most trusted General, Kujou Sara is an Electro archer in Genshin Impact – and I’m here to help you farm everything you need to get her battle-ready.

Kujou Sara level up farm

Here is your shopping list:

There are a few different ways that you can acquire your Vajrada Amethyst pieces. If you’re aiming to farm all your shards up as quickly and efficiently as possible, you’ll have to start cracking that Fragile Resin you’ve been saving. Seven bosses drop the Amethyst pieces you’re looking for. Four are regular World Bosses and three are special Weekly Bosses.

*Potential spoilers ahead*  Stormterror, Childe, and Azhdaha are the three World Bosses you’ll be challenging for a chance at some shards. For consistent farming, you’ll be looking at challenging the Coral Defenders, Electro Hypostasis, Thunder Manifestation, and the fu**cking Primo Geovishap. Each boss run costs 40 Resin to redeem. And please – remember to leave the area for three minutes so it can respawn.

Just wanted to let you know as well that the Souvenir Shops in both Monstadt and Liyue have six Slivers of each gem type that you can redeem for Sigils. It’s a one-time thing though, so use them wisely.

You’ll have to make a choice here

There are a couple of ways to boost the efficiency of your material farming. You can cycle through the bosses – except the weeklies, because they’re weekly – or you can just kind of… cheat with alchemy. The first path sees you swapping between World Bosses after every clear. That way, the boss you beat first will be back up by the time you beat the second. If you want, you can make a route between them, doing them over and over again in order.

If alchemy is more your thing, you can use the Alchemy Table and just upgrade the Jade to its next tier. It takes three of the previous tier material to upgrade to the next one. That goes for any other material with multiple tiers as well, which means this also applies to the masks that you’ll need… Going even further, you can use Dust of Azoth to convert any tier of a different gem into an Amethyst of the same tier – and vice versa.

Good news! The Storm Beads that you’re looking for are actually earned by beating the Thunder Manifestation. So if you wanted to save some Resin, you could switch out your boss route for just an endless massacre of the Thunder Manifestation. That said, you’ll have to leave for three minutes in between each showdown, so you’re trading out Resin for time.

Now, the Hilichurls

By now, you’re likely quite familiar with the Hilichurls. Chances are you may already have the materials you’re looking for. If not, then you’ll have to go around and decimate their little camps again – you monster. Anyway here’s an official Teyvat Interactive Map to make tracking these guys down easier. I didn’t say we weren’t all monsters. Maybe even take some of your friends along and make a bonding moment of it.

Genshin Impact Dendrobium
Geez…     Image by Mihoyo

Lastly – for the levels, anyway – we have the Dendrobium. These blood-red flowers are found in the Kannazuka and Yashiori Island regions of Inazuma. They’re specifically found around battlefields and arenas. It’s kind of badass, but also kind of morbid. You can find clusters of Dendrobium around Nazuchi Beach, Kujou Encampment, and around both the Maguu Kenki and Pyro Hypostasis arenas. Just be careful not to end up like the others that helped this flower grow.

Talent upgrades

You thought we were done? Oh no no my friend, you still have to level up her talents. What good is a max-level character if they do beginner damage? Here’s what you’ll need to level up Kujou Sara’s talents.

  • 9 Teachings of Elegance
    • 63 Guides to Elegance
    • 114 Philosophies of Elegance
  • 18 Damaged Masks
    • 66 Stained Masks
    • 93 Ominous Masks
  • 18 Ashen Hearts
  • 3 Crowns of Insight (one to max-level each Talent)
  • 4,957,500 Mora – You have to spend the big bucks to max out characters, friend.

*Spoiler ahead* Sorry to break it to you, but you know those Ashen Hearts you need? Yeah, those come from beating Signora. Unfortunately, Signora is a Weekly Boss, which means you’ll either have to be patient, or you would have had to already be fighting her each week. If the latter is the case, you’re in luck if you don’t already have the Ashen Hearts! Signora’s other drops – Hellfire Butterfly and Molten Moment – can be converted into Ashen Hearts by using Dream Solvent. Dream Solvent is also limited to Weekly Bosses, but thankfully, it can be obtained from any weekly boss – though there is only a chance of it dropping.

It just keeps going

Here’s a bit more bad news… you’re going to have to keep farming Hilichurl masks. The total amount of masks you need will end up being 36 Damaged Masks, 96 Stained Masks, and 129 Ominous Masks, which hopefully doesn’t take you too much longer to farm. The Elegance talent books can be farmed in the Violet Court domain on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. It can also be upgraded in the same way as those previously listed materials.

Crowns of Insight are pretty tough to get if you don’t already have some. Crowns of Insight are limited to two methods of obtainment. The main way to earn them is through limited-time events like the recent Fleeting Colors in Flight event. The only other ways to get them are the Frostbearing Tree in Dragonspine, and the Sacred Sakura in Inazuma. So if you haven’t already, you better get started on making your offerings to those trees. Those damn trees.

Now, let’s talk about your build

As a burst support, you’ll want to swap her in, use her ability, and swap back to your main damage dealer. Your artifact set can vary, but generally, you’ll want to do something like this:

  • Emblem of Severed Fate – 4
  • Noblesse Oblige – 2 + Thundering Fury – 2
  • Noblesse Oblige – 2 + any +18% ATK set – 2

A full set of EoSF will net you 20% Energy Recharge as well as an Elemental Burst damage buff equivalent to 25% of your Energy Recharge – up to a maximum of 75%. Noblesse Oblige’s two-piece bonus is a 20% buff to your Elemental Burst damage and the other two pieces of Thundering Fury boost your Electro damage by 15%.

When it comes to weapons, her best-in-slot weapon is Skyward Harp. If you’re not doing too hot in the Wish department, you could instead give her a Mouun’s Moon, Alley Hunter, or even a Sacrificial Bow. it’s okay, I won’t shame you for not having 5-Star weapons – it’s tough, man.

Venture forth for your Artifacts

Emblem of Severed Fate can be farmed in the Momiji-Dyed Court Domain in Inazuma. Noblesse Oblige pieces are farmed in the Clear Pool and Mountain Cavern domain, and Thundering Fury comes from Midsummer Courtyard. Any and all artifacts can be farmed at any time, so don’t rush if you don’t have to. Plus, you may not want to rush – it may just stoke the fires of your hatred for Noblesse Oblige farming. Just me?

That’s all you’ll need to farm for Kujou Sara. Go off and get your artifacts, farm your materials, and level up your Kujou Sara to make her the best she can be. But also remember to take breaks, drink water, shower – all that stuff. Kujou Sara isn’t the first character you’ll have to level up, and she definitely won’t be the last.
