How to farm for Razor in Genshin Impact

Genshin's #1 wolfboi.

Razor: not only is he the ultimate golden retriever boy, but he also happens to be blessed by a wolf spirit while also wielding a giant greatsword. Here’s how to farm Razor in Genshin Impact so he can be the best he can be.

Here’s what Razor will need for his level ascension:

There are a few different ways that you can acquire your Vajrada Amethyst pieces. If you’re aiming to farm all your shards up as quickly and efficiently as possible, you’ll have to start cracking that Fragile Resin you’ve been saving. Seven bosses drop the Amethyst pieces you’re looking for. Four are regular World Bosses and three are special Weekly Bosses.

Here are the three Weekly Boss fights you’ll need to beat for your shards: Confront Stormterror, Beneath the Dragon-Queller, and Enter the Golden House. For consistent farming, you’ll be looking at challenging the Coral Defenders, Electro Hypostasis, Thunder Manifestation, and the f*cking Primo Geovishap.

Each Normal Boss run will run you 40 Resin on redemption, with each Weekly Boss costing 60 Resin. Be prepared to either use up your Fragile Resin or wait a pretty long time for Resin to regenerate. You’ll also have to leave the area for three minutes in order for the regular bosses to respawn – it’s a bit mundane, but that’s just the Gacha Life, I suppose.

If you wanted to be extra efficient with your task, you can go from boss to boss in order so that by the time you finish one, the other one(s) will respawn. If you want, you can make a route between them, doing them over and over again in order.  You can farm it up all naturally over time or you can use an alchemy table to upgrade the Turquoise to its next tier. It takes three of the previous tier material to upgrade to the next one – this goes for all other materials that have multiple tiers as well.

Alternatively, you can spend some Dust of Azoth to convert any tier of a different gem into an Amethyst of the same tier. You could also get them with the Parametric Transformer if you use the right type of fuel.

Hooks, masks, and shapes

The Wolfhook berries are actually pretty easy to find and grab. These cute little purple berries are found in Mondstadt – exclusively in Wolvendom. These little guys are found close to the ground – around the base of trees and bushes. You can also buy five every three days from Chloris in a few predetermined spots in the Mondstadt wilds. Each Wolfhook will run you 1000 Mora, but you’re really trading money for time here. If you’ve exhausted every last berry in your world, feel free to join some friends and take theirs. Chances are they really don’t need them at this point – unless they need tons of blue dye for some reason.

By now, you’re likely quite familiar with the Hilichurls. Chances are you may already have the materials you’re looking for. If not, then you’ll have to go around and decimate their little camps again, you monster. Hilichurls are found all over every region in Teyvat, but you can use the Interactive Map to make tracking these guys down easier. I didn’t say we weren’t all monsters.

Those Lightning Prisms you need are obtained from beating the Electro Hypostasis. Honestly, if you were willing to sacrifice some time and Fragile Resin, you could just fight the Hypostasis repeatedly. It would take you three minutes between each clear, but it would also be more effective than doing a boss route as you’d be getting multiple required materials at the same time. I’ll leave that choice up to you though.

Talent upgrades

Talent upgrades will cost you a bit of extra time, but don’t worry about it – it’s all part of the process. Here’s what you’ll need for his talents.

  • 9 Teachings of Freedom
    • 63 Guides to Freedom
    • 114 Philosophies of Freedom
  • 18 Damaged Masks
    • 66 Stained Masks
    • 93 Ominous Masks
  • 18 Dvalin’s Claws
  • 3 Crowns of Insight (one to max-level each Talent if you’re going for that)
  • 4,957,500 Mora – I was going to try breaking this to you slowly, but I couldn’t..

Here’s a bit more bad news… you’re going to have to keep farming Hilichurl masks. The total amount of masks you need will end up being 36 Damaged Masks, 96 Stained Masks, and 129 Ominous Masks, which hopefully doesn’t take you too much longer to farm.

The Freedom talent books can be obtained from the Forsaken Rift Domain on Mondays, Thursdays, and Sundays. These can be upgraded in the same way as all of the previously listed materials at a ratio of three to one. The Alchemist’s Crafting Bench is your friend, people. Make use of it whenever and wherever possible!

Now for the claws

I know that mentioning Dvalin’s Claw is technically a spoiler, but you probably aren’t at a point where you can farm Razor if you don’t know who Dvalin is. Because of that, I’m just not going to count it as a spoiler.

There are two ways to get Dvalin’s Claws. The first way to get them is by doing the Weekly Boss fight – Stormterror Challenge. The second way to get these claws is actually just by beating that weekly boss fight anyway – then converting the alternate drops into claws with Dream Solvent. That’s really the only way to go about this; sorry if I mislead you. On the bright side, you’ve likely gotten so used to this fight that it doesn’t phase you anymore. That, or you’ve been playing for a while and don’t even need to actually farm any.

The Dream Solvent is going to save you a lot of time if you didn’t already have what you needed. Ever since Dream Solvent came out and gave us the ability to convert Weekly Boss materials, farming them has been way easier. That just goes to show you – never skip out on your weeklies. You never know what you’ll need and when you’ll need it. Unless you came here first, in which case you actually would know exactly what you need.

Topple the monarchies

The last item you need is just a little bit harder to come across. Crowns – as you could probably guess from the name – are precious and hard to come by. Crowns of Insight are currently limited to two methods of obtainment – both of which take time. Both methods can be fairly slow in their own right, but one is more consistent than the other and is available at all times. The main way you can get Crowns of Insight is through hitting certain level milestones with the Sacred Sakura in Inazuma and the Frostbearing Tree in Dragonspine. The only other way to get them is through certain limited-time in-game events. So be sure to keep up with Genshin events – keep that Crown stock up and you won’t have any problems.

Genshin Impact has endless opportunities to farm materials, and Razor will not be the last time you have to do it – but hopefully, this guide speeds up the process for you. Enjoy your new Razor, and have fun with all the wind and alchemy!
