Yanfei is not only is she an Adeptus and the famous legal advisor of Liyue Harbor, but she’s also the next character you’ll farm for in Genshin Impact. Yanfei can be a pretty effective unit when used properly – but you’ll have to get to farming if you want to get her there. Let’s not waste any time and get on with it!
Here’s what Yanfei will need for her level ascension:
- 1 Agnidus Agate Sliver
- 9 Agnidus Agate Fragment
- 9 Agnidus Agate Chunks
- 6 Agnidus Agate Gemstones
- 18 Recruit’s Insignias
- 30 Sergeant’s Insignias
- 36 Lieutenant’s Insignias
- 168 Noctilucous Jade
- 46 Juvenile Jade
- 420k Mora (blaze it)
That’s a lot of Jade…
Let’s get to clicking
There are quite a few ways to farm for Agnidus Agate pieces. If you’re really looking to farm it all up as fast as possible, then prepare to shed a lot of Fragile Resin and potentially some tears. Six bosses drop Agnidus Agate pieces – three Normal Bosses and three Weekly Bosses. Primo Geovishap (f*ck you), Pyro Hypostasis, and Pyro Regisvine are the regular bosses you’ll be hunting down. The weekly fights you’ll have to do are Wolf of the North Challenge, Beneath the Dragon Queller, and Narukami Island: Tenshukaku.
Each Normal Boss run will run you 40 Resin on redemption, with each Weekly Boss costing 60 Resin. Be prepared to either use up your Fragile Resin or wait a really long time. You’ll also have to leave the area for three minutes in order for the regular bosses to respawn – it’s a bit mundane, but this is the life you signed up for when you started playing Genshin Impact. It’s a Gacha Game, what did you expect exactly?
If you wanted to be more efficient about it, you can go from boss to boss in order so, that by the time you finish one, the other one will respawn. If you want, you can make a route between them, doing them repeatedly in order. You can farm it up all naturally over time or you can use an alchemy table to upgrade the Agate to its next tier. It takes three of the previous tier material to upgrade to the next one – this goes for other materials with multiple tiers as well. Alternatively, you can use Dust of Azoth to convert any tier of a different gem into an Agate of the same tier.
Insignias and Jade
The Insignias you’re after can be difficult to farm due to the amount of wanton murder you’ll be committing. It’s not so much the act itself that’s hard, it’s more the moral implication that gets to you. For these, you’ll need to track and take down Fatui Skirmishers, Cicin Mages, and Pyro Agents. Due to the Cicin Mages and Pyro Agents, you’d do well to bring the appropriate element with you when fighting them. You could always just brute force it though, it’s more fun that way. You can find these guys all over Teyvat and can track their exact locations using this Teyvat Interactive Map as well.
Noctilucous Jade is a Liyue specialty, and thus can only be found in Liyue. You’ll want to check around cliff bases and caves for these. You’re looking for little ore nodes like you would see with any other minable resource. Mingyun VIllage is a little hotspot for these Jades, but if the area is fresh out, you can check in with Shitou in Liyue Harbor. He’ll sell you five Jade every three days at 1000 Mora a pop. If you haven’t already spoken to him, Chang the Ninth in Qingce Village will also give you four pieces for following through with a certain dialogue branch for the first time.
Those Juvenile Jades you need are obtained from beating that dips**t Primo Geovishap. There’s some extra good news and bad news with this one though. The good news is that you’ll be able to gain some Agnidus Agate from the Vishap. The bad news is that you can only get them if the Primo Geovishap is infused with Pyro – which it can spawn with randomly. If you’re lucky, you’ll be able to get quite a few Agate shards while farming your Juvenile Jade, saving you some time. I wish you the best of luck.
Talent upgrades are usually where people realize that they’ll really need to get down and dirty with the farming. Again, if you have a ton of Slime stuff, you’re lucky and safe from further Slime beatdowns.
- 9 Teachings of Gold
- 63 Guides to Gold
- 114 Philosophies of Gold
- 18 Recruit’s Insignias
- 66 Sergeant’s Insignias
- 93 Lieutenant’s Insignias
- 18 Bloodjade Branches
- 3 Crowns of Insight (one to max-level each Talent if you’re going for that)
- 4,957,500 Mora – there was probably a better way to break this news to you, sorry.
Anyway, your Insignia total amounts to 36 Recruit’s Insignias, 96 Sergeant’s Insignias, and 129 Lieutenant’s Insignias. It’s not all that bad when you get down to it, but don’t get me wrong, it’s still pretty tedious. You may want to consider joining a friend or a stranger for this as well. You may as well bring an ally along to speed up your farming process right?
Now for the branches
There are two ways to get these Bloodjade Branches. The first way to get them is by doing the Weekly Boss fight – Beneath the Dragon Queller. The second way to get these Branches is actually just by beating that weekly boss fight anyway – then converting them with Dream Solvent. That’s really the only way to go about this, unfortunately, no workaround this time. On the bright side, at least you can enjoy some nice music while you fight for your life against a giant beast, right?
The Dream Solvent is going to save you a lot of time if you didn’t already have what you needed. Ever since Dream Solvent came out and gave us the ability to convert Weekly Boss materials, farming them has been way easier. That just goes to show you – never skip out on your weeklies. You never know what you’ll need and when you’ll need it. Unless you came here first, in which case you actually would know exactly what you need.
Eat the rich
The last item you need is just a little bit harder to come across. Crowns – as you could probably guess from the name – are precious and hard to come by. Crowns of Insight are currently limited to two methods of obtainment – both of which take time. Both methods can be fairly slow in their own right, but one is more consistent than the other and is available at all times. You can get Crowns of Insight by hitting certain level milestones with the Sacred Sakura in Inazuma and the Frostbearing Tree in Dragonspine. The only other way to get them is through certain limited-time in-game events. So be sure to keep up with Genshin events – keep that Crown stock up and you won’t have any problems.
The Genshin Impact grind never ends, you’ll always have something or someone to farm for, and Yanfei definitely will not be the last time you have to do it. Hopefully, this guide helps with the process a little bit. Enjoy your new Yanfei, and have fun hitting Ne’er-do-wells with the flames of the law… Or something.
