The Crown Tundra has made it possible to farm an infinite amount of legendary Pokemon in Pokemon Sword and Shield. This is the first time players can easily farm multiple legendaries without having to play through the main storyline. You do not even need to catch or train any Pokemon, it is that easy!
In order to do this, you will need access to Pokemon Bank with Nintendo Switch Online. Here are the simple steps you need to do in order to farm legendary Pokemon in The Crown Tundra effortlessly.
Step 1: Make a new profile
The newest feature on Nintendo Switch is what allows players to farm these legendary Pokemon. You can make multiple profiles on one Switch, with each profile having its own unique saves for games.
To make a new profile, go to System Settings > Users > Add User. Now start your Pokemon Sword or Pokemon Shield game and select the profile you just created.
Step 2: Start a new game
Now you can start a new game. You will have to play through some of the storyline, but it only takes a little over an hour to get past the start. You have to play until you unlock the Wild Area. Do not worry about having a full team of Pokemon, or leveling them.
When you go to the Wild Area for the first time, walk to Hop and go through the dialogue. Once that finishes immediately go back to the train station, and take the train back to Wedgehurst.
Step: 3 Go to the Crown Tundra
You will have to fight a level 12 Slowpoke and defeat or capture it. After that you can talk to the NPC in the green vest. He will allow you to go to both the Isle of Armor and the Crown Tundra. Select the Crown Tundra, and when you exit the station you will face Peony. He will have level 70 steel type Pokemon, so of course there is no way you can win.
But this is the great thing about Pokemon Sword and Shield. For the first time you are not required to win every battle in the story to progress. All you have to do is lose to Peony and the story continues normally. Follow Peony on his mission to find his daughter to unlock Dynamax Adventures.
Step 4: Run Dynamax Adventures
Pokemon in Dynamax Adventures are about level 65-70. Normally you cannot catch Pokemon in the wild that are level 20 or higher at the start of the game. You must unlock gym badges to catch higher level Pokemon. But this badge requirement is thrown out the window in Dynamax Adventures, because you use rental Pokemon. Without having to train your own Pokemon, you can take part in these adventures immediately.
Throughout the adventure you can catch any Pokemon you want, and with a 100% catch rate there is no need to buy specific Pokeballs. Catching legendary Pokemon in The Crown Tundra is that easy.
If you are worried about running out of Pokeballs, don’t be. Pokeballs are really cheap so you can buy a bunch from the money you get at the start of the game. You can also use the Dynite Ore you get from Dynamax Adventures to buy Premier Balls.
This allows you to have access to legendary Pokemon on your team very early in Pokemon Sword and Shield’s story. Since you are the original trainer of these level 65+ Pokemon, they are obedient to you without needing a gym badge to keep them in line.
You will not be able to catch any Pokemon outside of the Dynamax Adventure though, because they maintain their gym badge requirement.
Step 5: Profit
Remember that you can only catch one of each legendary Pokemon, or Ultra Beast, per save file. So each time you want to get more legendary Pokemon you have to make a new profile. Using this method you can also farm shiny legendary Pokemon. Just know, that all shiny Pokemon in Dynamax Adventures can only be a star shiny.
Catch as many legendary Pokemon as you want. Then to transfer these Pokemon to your main game, you have to use the Pokemon bank, or have a trusted friend to help you out. In order to do this, you have to start Pokemon Bank on your main profile. On the home screen select Pokemon, then click your profile name and you can switch users. Change to the user that has the legendary Pokemon you want to transfer.
Now you can move all the Pokemon in Pokemon Bank. Save and quit and then change the user back to your main one. Open Pokemon Bank again and you will see the legendary Pokemon you just deposited. You can choose to put them in your main game, or just save them for later in Pokemon Bank.
With the addition of The Crown Tundra, this is the easiest it has ever been to catch legendary Pokemon. Just follow these steps and you can enjoy all the legendary Pokemon you want.
You can also use these Pokemon to finish up the storyline in Pokemon Sword and Shield if you would like to catch other legendaries not in Dynamax Adventurs, such as the Regi- Pokemon, Glastrier, Spectrier, Zamazenta, Zacian, Calyrex or Eternatus.
