Albedo is the latest Genshin Impact character and the saving grace of the Geo element. Inarguably one of the weaker elements in Genshin, Geo has been struggling for quite some time, with Zhongli falling short in numerous areas and earning his place as a low-tier hybrid. Albedo is the Chief Alchemist, Captain of the Investigation Team of the Knights of Favonius, and mentor to the adorable scientist Sucrose.
Unfortunately and to much player despair, Albedo is a five-star character. But fear not, as his skills live up to the expectations, and Albedo is a capable DPS.
Albedo Attacks and Skills
Attack: Favonius Bladework Weiss – Albedo’s primary attack is nothing to write home about. He has a basic 5-hit chain with the sword, which can be charged up to unleash two powerful strikes. His plunging attack will deal basic AoE damage and doesn’t trigger any elemental reactions
Elemental Skill: Abiogenesis: Solar Isotoma – Albedo will create a flower with alchemy that will deal Geo damage to anyone in an AoE, regardless of character on the field. If enemies are within the area of effect range of the Solar Isotoma and they are hit or attacked, Transient Blossoms will appear, dealing out Geo damage to any enemies nearby. The Solar Isotomas can be stepped upon as well, creating a Geo platform in the air.
Elemental Burst: Rite of Progeniture: Tectonic Tide – Albedo’s Elemental Burst is another addition to the list of absurd damage-dealing AoE abilities that make clearing the Spiral Abyss a breeze. For this ability, Albedo will summon Geo crystals from the earth, dealing elemental damage. If there is a Solar Isotoma active when Rite of Progeniture is used, seven Fatal Blossoms are generated, bursting into crystals as they bloom, and dealing even more AoE Geo damage. During the duration of the Elemental Burst, however, Transient Blossoms will not appear.
Albedo Passive Talents
Awakening: Ascension 1 – Transient Blossoms generated by Abiogenesis: Solar Isotoma deal 25% more DMG to enemies whose HP is below 50%.
Hunger: Ascension 4 – Using Rite of Progeniture: Tectonic Tide increases the Elemental Mastery of nearby party members by 125 for 10 seconds.
Flash of Genius: When Albedo crafts Weapon Ascension Materials, he has a 10% chance to receive double the product.
C1: Flower of Eden – Transient Blossoms generated by Albedo’s Abiogenesis: Solar Isotoma regenerate 1.2 Energy for Albedo.
C2: Opening of Phanerozoic- Transient Blossoms generated by Abiogenesis: Solar Isotoma grant Albedo Fatal Reckoning for 30 seconds. Each stack of fatal reckoning increases Albedo’s damage scaled off of his defense. Unleashing the Elemental Skill consumes all stacks of Fatal reckoning and increases the damage dealt by Tectonic Tide.
C3: Grace of Helios– Increases the level of Abiogenesis: Solar Isotoma by 3. The maximum upgrade level is 15.
C4: Descent of Divinity- Solar Isotoma increases Plunging Attack DMG by 30% for active party members within the AoE.
C5: Tide of Hadaen– Increases the level of Rite of Progeniture: Tectonic Tide by 3. The maximum upgrade level is 15.
C6: Dust of Purification– If active party members within the AoE are protected by a shield created by Crystallize, Solar Isotoma increases their DMG by 17%.
Albedo Artifacts & Builds
If you aren’t stacking Albedo as a Geo damage dealer in Genshin Impact, you are using him wrong. Albedo’s true power comes in combining his Elemental Skill, Elemental Burst, and the AoE damage capabilities of your party.
Festering Desire is an ideal sword for Albedo, increasing Elemental Skill damage on a scale from 16-32%. The sword will also increase the Elemental Skill crit rate, but that is less important, especially if you plan on switching to a more consistent damage dealer after the Elemental Burst or Skill is used.
The two ideal artifacts to be used on Albedo are Noblesse Oblige and Archaic Petra if you can acquire the latter with a decent roll. Don’t be afraid to use artifacts that boost his defense, as it will scale up the damage output done with Transient Blossoms.
The two-stack bonus on the Noblesse Oblige results in an increase in Elemental Burst damage by 20%, and the four-stack bonus is that using an Elemental Burst increases all party members’ attack by 20% for 12s. The four-stack bonus is useful if you use Albedo to place the Solar Isotoma and switch out for someone like Venti, Diluc, or Beidou.
Archaic Petra’s two-set bonus is a buff to Geo damage by 15%, but obtaining two pieces to obtain the bonus can turn into an Easter Egg hunt with lots of repetition.
There has been a real need for a decent Geo character in Genshin Impact for a while, and now, we have Albedo. Even though he is a five-star character, Albedo makes up for it with huge AoE potential and a skillset that opts for switching and tanking damage to increase the Geo reactions.
