How to play Xingqiu in Genshin Impact

Xingqiu is the son of the Guild Manager of the Feuyun Commerce Guild. He is studious and outwardly soft, with an adventurous side underneath. He fights using the Guhua Clan‘s fighting style and uses Hydro damage. His kit focuses on mitigating incoming damage while creating elemental reactions. Here is how to play Xingqiu in Genshin Impact.

Attacks and Skills

Attack: Guhua Style – Xingqiu utilizes a sword and can perform 5 rapid strikes. This can be charged to deal 2 rapid strikes at the cost of stamina. He also has a plunge attack that can be activated in the air.

Elemental Skill: Fatal Rainscreen – Performing two quick Hydro slashes, Xinqiu flips and gains Rain Swords – three at base. These orbit the active character and have multiple effects. When a character takes damage, one of the swords shatters and the damage is reduced. The damage is additionally reduced by 20% of Xingqiu’s Hydro DMG bonus, up to an additional 24%. Casting Fatal Rainscreen applies the Wet status to Xinqiu.

Elemental Burst: Raincutter – Xingqiu summons the maximum number of Rain Swords. These swords cannot be shattered, but still provide the defensive benefits of being shattered. Additionally, while Raincutter is active, any Normal attack will send forth swords that deal Hydro Damage. These can be spammed and sent forth consecutively. They can also trigger elemental reactions.

Passive Talents

Hydropathic: Ascension 1 – When a Rain Sword is shattered or when its duration expires, it regenerates the current character’s HP based on 6% of Xingqiu’s Max HP.

Blades Amidst Raindrops: Ascension 4 – Xingqiu gains a 20% Hydro DMG Bonus.

Flash of Genius – When Xingqiu crafts Character Talent Materials, he has a 25% chance to refund a portion of the crafting materials used.

C1: The Scent Remained – Increases the maximum number of Rain Swords by 1.

C2: Rainbow Upon the Azure Sky – Extends the duration of Guhua Sword: Raincutter by 3s. Decreases the Hydro RES of enemies hit by sword rain by 15% for 4s.

C3: Weaver of Verses – Increases the level of Guhua Sword: Raincutter by 3. Maximum upgrade level is 15.

C4: Evilsoother – Throughout the duration of Guhua Sword: Raincutter, the DMG dealt by Guhua Sword: Fatal Rainscreen is increased by 50%.

C5: Embrace of Rain – Increases the level of Guhua Sword: Fatal Rainscreen by 3. Maximum upgrade level is 15.

C6: Hence, Call Them My Own Verses – Activating 2 of Guhua Sword: Raincutter’s sword rain attacks greatly increases the DMG of the third. Xingqiu regenerates 3 Energy when sword rain attacks hit enemies.

Artifacts and builds for Xingqiu

Xingqiu doesn’t have much build variation in Genshin Impact. As a support DPS, his goal is to get off his abilities to help cause elemental reactions. Hydro can be used to cause Vaporize, Freeze and Electro-Charged reactions. The Sacrificial Sword is a great way to spam Fatal Rainscreen, allowing Xingqiu to quickly charge up Raincutter. The Favionus Sword is also a great weapon for Xingqiu, but it relies on a high crit rate stat.

Xingqiu does not excel as a solo healer. His Fatal Rainscreen can reduce incoming damage and can provide a small heal, but it does not scale strongly. His Rain Swords scale off of his Max HP, but only by 6%.

Xinqiu pairs best with DPS characters like Chongyun, Razor or Beidou. These characters can capitalize on the Wet Status that Xingqiu can constantly apply with Raincutter and Rainscreen.
