How to spot the Imposter in Among Us as a Crewmate

Trust no one

Among Us is a classic whodunit with a modern twist. There are one to three imposters among the rest of players as Crewmates. As a Crewmate, do your job and everyone wins. As The Imposter, you need to kill everyone off, turning Crewmates against each other so you don’t get ejected out of the work site. How do you know who’s who, though? It’s very easy to point fingers, and sometimes sacrifices need to be made. SQUAD checks out some ways on how you can spot The Imposter in your next game of Among Us.

Are they suspicious?

Everyone has their tasks to do except The Imposter. While The Imposter can’t complete tasks, they are given a fake task list for them to go to certain areas to make it look like they’re contributing. With that said, try to keep track of Crewmates and where they’re going and what tasks they’re completing. If nobody has any business in the MedBay, that might be suspicious. If someone is AFK in a bizarre section, that might be suspicious.

Say you happen to stumble into Electrical and someone is waiting there as the lights go off – run away, because that’s really suspicious. As humans we are almost innately able to decipher who’s not doing what they’re supposed to be doing, so be careful.

Security room or Communications

There are tools in the game that players can use to monitor the movement of individuals in the game. You can watch cameras or read entrance logs of who’s been where. If you have a keen eye or extreme attention to detail, it’s easier to spot The Imposter in your next game of Among Us with these tools.

Warning: Using these tools unsupervised can leave you vulnerable to death. Be careful.

Using the vents or teleporting

Vents are a proven science, while teleporting might be a glitch. Treat it all as the same thing. If you’re walking to a room or on the way to do a task, and happen to bump into someone hopping in or out of a vent, run: that’s The Imposter. Only The Imposter has the ability to travel through vents. It’s an instant Emergency Meeting assuming that The Imposter doesn’t cut you off or corner you, leading to your untimely demise.

On the other hand, teleportation might be your eyes not fully registering someone running into your room, or a minor lag spike. Don’t give anyone the benefit of the doubt in this game, though.

Did you see somebody kill another player?

That’s probably the Imposter.
