Brewster, and his famous café the Roost, has finally arrived to Animal Crossing: New Horizons in the 2.0 update, but his café is not automatically unlocked. I will tell you how you can find Brewster and unlock the Roost.
The first thing you must do is talk to Blathers in the museum. Blathers wants to add a café to the museum, and wants his friend Brewster to run it. However, Blathers has no idea where Brewster is and gives you the task of finding him. You will be given a photo of Brewster so you know what he looks like.
Blathers will give you a hint on Brewster’s location, as he mentions Brewster loves Gyroids. These Gyroids can be found on islands that Kapp’n visits on his boat tours. Now you must go to Kapp’n at your pier and go on a boat tour, this will cost 1,000 Nook Miles.
You should be able to find Brewster on the first island you come to. If you do not see him, you may need to search another island. When you talk to Brewster you will have several dialogue options. You can cut straight to the chase and say you are looking for him. Brewster does not need much convincing and will agree to run the café.
Now you can go back to your island, but that’s not all. You must talk to Blathers again and tell him that Brewster is coming. Then Blathers will start construction on the museum the next day to add the café. If you forget to talk to Blathers then the museum will never be upgraded. The museum will take one day to complete construction, so the day after is when you will have the Roost unlocked.
When you enter the museum, the café will be located up the stairs and to the left of the art gallery. Now you will be in the Roost and can enjoy Brewster’s hot cups of coffee. If you grab a cup of coffee every day you will slowly build up your relationship with Brewster. Each cup will cost you 200 bells, and you can drink as much as you like. If you have friends visiting your island, you can all go to the café and sit at the big tables for some coffee.
That is not all though, as you can also occasionally find NPCs at the café. Not only will your villagers visit, but also traveling vendors that are on your island for the day and even characters you do not see often like Resetti. You can talk to everyone who comes to the café to get some unique dialogue.
There is also a special amiibo phone you can use to invite characters to the café if you have their amiibo. These characters can come alone, or bring their families, giving you some unique dialogue into each character’s personalities.
