The best characters and ways to evade attacks in SWGOH

Dodging or evading attacks hasn’t been relevant in SWGOH since the old meta of Luminara Unduli or Darth Maul back in 2017. This forgotten game mechanic was brought back into the limelight through feats in Galactic Conquest and Galactic Challenges. The feats are often labeled “Evade at least x attacks”, and the actual game mechanics aren’t as intuitive as they should be with the interchangeable terms of Evade and Dodge. Since it isn’t exactly obvious how to evade attacks in SWGOH, we’ll check out how it’s done and who the best characters to evade attacks with are.

How to evade attacks

Characters evade attacks when the attacker outright misses their attack. Evading attacks can be boosted through Leader abilities, buffs, or Data Disks or Consumables in Galactic Conquest. There are also debuffs that can increase the likelihood of forcing an evaded attack. Buffs like Foresight are a surefire way of evading an attack, whereas some Leader abilities increase the chance of evading an attack through RNG. Of all the routes, Foresight seems to be the most efficient way to farm evaded attacks.

Evading Buffs:

  • Evasion Up
  • Foresight

Note: Stealth does not count for Evasion

  • Accuracy Down
  • Blind

Data Disks:

  • Convor’s Agility
  • Future Vision
  • Quickening

Consumables (Galactic Conquest):

  • Evasion Booster

  • Ahsoka Tano
  • Darth Maul
  • Luminara Unduli
  • Obi-Wan Kenobi (Old Ben)
  • Qui-Gon Jinn
  • Rebel Officer Leia Organa
  • Talia

Best characters to evade attacks with

Jedi Master Kenobi – JMK can give all Light Side allies Foresight through his Special ability Hello There. This isn’t a prank or meme. Hello There will help contribute to your evaded attacks tally. This ability is peak Prequels.

Grand Master Yoda – When Grand Master Yoda (GMY) has his abilities maxed out, he can provide the Foresight buff to all allies through his ability Battle Meditation. When paired with Hermit Yoda, they can produce tons of evaded attacks by the battle’s end.

Obi-Wan Kenobi (Old Ben) – Old Ben’s leadership ability gives all allies 15% Evasion. That in itself is a minor boost, but can amplify in effectiveness when paired with Grand Master Yoda and Hermit Yoda. Look to build a squad that looks like this: Old Ben (Lead), GMY, HYoda, Jedi Knight Anakin, and General Kenobi.

Darth Maul – Similar to Old Ben’s leadership ability, Darth Maul gives all Sith allies 20% Evasion. That ⅕ chance is pretty reasonable when paired with characters that can survive an onslaught of attacks. Teams built around Darth Maul should surround him with heavy-hitting tanks like Darth Malak or Darth Sion, and round out the roster with a well geared Count Dooku and Emperor Palpatine.

Rey (Jedi Training) & BB-8 – This dynamic duo synergizes well together, offering frequent Foresight buffs through their individual Unique abilities Insight (Rey with Jedi Training) and Self-Preservation Protocol (BB-8).

Honorable Mentions: Amilyn Holdo, Bastila Shan (Fallen), Commander Ahsoka Tano, Han Solo, Echo, Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker, Jedi Knight Revan, R2-D2, Tech
