Gathering in Albion Online is relatively easy to do when no other factors are taken into account. However, when you absolutely need to gather raw materials that only grow in certain dangerous places, it gets a bit complicated. This is why the developers have come up with specific gathering gear to help you out. With this guide, I’ll walk you through the best gathering gear you can use in Albion Online.
Gathering gear 101
There are quite a few types of gathering in Albion Online and each one has its own equipment and a number of spells to help make it easier. These gear sets are mainly focused on survivability and escape, which might sound strange at first, but when you’ve got a pack of wolves on your back and you have no good weapons to fight them off with, a little spell to make you invisible can come in handy.
Each set consists of a Cap, Garb, Work Boots, and a Backpack, and they each have one passive spell which increases gathering yield. Each of these items unlocks simultaneously along with the tool, so if you level up Fishing to Tier 4, you will be allowed to wear Tier 4 fishing gear as well. As for the backpack, always keep the right one with you, as it will reduce the weight of the right resource. The higher the tier of your gear, the higher the gathering yield for that type of gathering:
Aside from the incredibly useful passive spell, each piece of gathering gear in Albion provides a set of active skills, which you will get to choose:
Abilities per gathering type
Now that we’ve gotten the basics out of the way, let’s explore each and every gathering gear and their unique spells.
The Lumberjack set
If you plan on going out to cut down some trees and collect wood, then the Lumberjack set is the one you should focus on.
This set will increase your gathering yield and it has some interesting spells that come in handy every now and then:
The Harvester set
The Harvester set is the best you’ve got for collecting fibers. In addition to the usual gathering yield spell, you will get to enjoy a few profession-based spells:
The Quarrier set
Gathering stone will be a whole lot easier with the Quarrier set, especially if you use the unique spells that come with it.
The Miner set
Going out on an ore mining adventure? Take your Miner set along with you.
The Skinner set
When out on a skinning animals trip, bring your Skinner set with you, to get the most out of it.
Crafting or buying your gathering gear
You can either craft your own gathering gear or buy them off of other players. To be honest, it is much cheaper to craft it yourself, but you need to level up your crafting level in order to be able to craft higher-tier gear.
If you do decide to craft it, then head to the nearest town and head down to the Toolmaker – and be sure to check all the Toolmakers within the town and check which one charges the lowest tax – and get to crafting. You might also choose to build your own Toolmaker on your island.
That’s it! You’re all set. Happy gathering!
