The Messenger review and best perks | Destiny 2

The bearer of bad news.

The Messenger has returned in Destiny 2. With a new set of perks, it is now one of the strongest pulse rifles in PvP. However, drops are limited to Trials, which can be difficult to farm. Here are the best perks and rolls on The Messenger pulse rifle in Destiny 2.

Perks and rolls

In the first column, you have two solid choices for reload perks. Outlaw requires a precision final blow, while Rapid Hit requires precision hits and also boosts stability. Zen Moment is a great perk choice to maximize stability. If you want to go for a kill-based route, then Killing Wind would be a good option.

The second column has a couple of cool perks too. Desperado boosts fire rate and has only been previously seen on two other weapons. Kill Clip is great for boosting damage output after getting a kill. Headseeker is also a solid perk for PvP.

Here are the perk combinations and god rolls you should look for on The Messenger in Destiny 2:

  • Outlaw + Desperado – This is the perk combo that we previously saw on Redrix’s Broadsword. With this perk combo, you want to focus on getting precision kills to maximize your fire rate.
  • Rapid Hit + Kill Clip – These perks pair well for a PvE focused build. Rapid Hit boosts reload and stability while Kill Clip boosts damage output.

The Messenger is a great feeling pulse rifle. Although it is a High-Impact Frame, it has a reliable way to increase its fire rate with Desperado. Some people may have a hard time with the fire rate, but the trade off is great for the high damage output. The Messenger is definitely a gun worth picking up if you have the time to play Trials.
