New Doki Doki Literature Club content is in development

Developer Dan Salvato from Team Salvato, dropped a surefire hint that Doki Doki Literature Club will be getting a content update. He stated that he specifically wanted to return to making games, and pointed to DDLC “content”, rather than a full sequel. He also mentioned a new visual novel, which he’s been holding onto for a while.

If you’re new to the Doki Doki Literature Club scene, make sure you heed the warnings the game comes with. I don’t want to spoil too much, so I’ll just say a lot happens in the game. A lot that you would not expect from the genre and artwork. We have no info yet on what this upcoming Doki Doki Literature Club new content would be like, but the original game is worth it on its own – give it a try before the update arrives.

Doki Doki Theories

On Dec. 19, 2019, Salvato ran two polls on Twitter asking who his followers would most like to see in a scene together. It seems like Salvato was hinting then and there that he might do something with DDLC in 2020.

Hopefully, whatever Salvato creates will include all of the favorite characters, and maybe some characters who are long gone. Perhaps a glimpse into a single character’s background, or maybe life after the end of the visual novel? It will be interesting for sure because DDLC’s files have sat dormant in our systems for a few years now.

The new content date release is eagerly anticipated by fans, and that’s just going off of the massive response on Twitter. My advice: keep a close eye on the Team Salvato Twitter. They might drop more teasers soon, either for the upcoming Doki Doki Literature Club content, or the unnamed new visual novel. Speaking of that, there have been no hints revealed about Salvato’s next visual novel, but if it’s anything like DDLC, it has to be good.

Hopefully, the artists involved are Satchely and Velinquent, who were both on the team who created the first DDLC.
