League of Legends has shown some really experimental designs in recent champion releases. After 10 years of making champions, Riot is clearly not holding back on creativity. This is especially true for Aphelios, who had to be released with his own instruction manual to explain his kit. But as creative as designs can be, the true craziness starts once players get their hands on champions.
For a lot of people who play League, it’s a great show of skill to be able to figure out how to fit two characters into a lane together and take that lane by storm. Recently it was discovered that Senna and Sion make a pretty wild combo with their complementing abilities. When timed properly, Sion’s Roar of the Slayer and Senna’s Last Embrace can create a move that is frankly not supposed to happen in normal League of Legends.
If Senna hits an enemy with Last Embrace, it briefly Roots them and any enemies around them. A video recently made by Twitch streamer Masayoshi shows that Sion can then launch the affected enemy minions at opposing players.
Now that this Senna and Sion combo is out in the open, League players can have a lot of fun figuring out how to use it best. It certainly has competitive uses as well. Enemy players trying to hold the lane would feel a bit of extra pressure now that they can be suddenly slapped with a flying minion.
The only issue is that players trying to deploy the Senna-Sion combo need to be very coordinated. Delaying or hesitating will clue enemies in of what’s to come, naturally.
It is too early to tell if this new trick will have an actual impact on the meta. However, I’m pretty sure Senna and Sion’s stock will rise in casual gameplay for a while. The minion-launcher combo is just too fun to pass up.
