January is almost over, and to my own surprise it went by in a flash. I mean, it feels like New Year’s was just last week, yet we find ourselves at the end of the month. A bunch of new awesome games are coming out in February 2021, so let’s explore them!
Little Nightmares II
I’ve already mentioned this game in another article about games coming out in 2021, but it left quite an impression, so I feel like I need to share it with you guys again, for the February edition.
Little Nightmares II is, or at least seems to be, in my humble opinion, a masterpiece. The graphics are very quaint and sort of child-appropriate looking, but don’t let it fool you, it is a horror game.
Little Nightmares II is shaping up to be full of spine-tingling environments, incredibly terrifying villains, and just looks like a bone-chilling experience overall. And the game isn’t just about a well placed jump scare or two, the entire game is set to place the player in uncomfortable scenarios at every corner. I LOVE IT!
It comes out on Feb. 11 and I simply can’t wait to play it.
Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury
I don’t know about you guys, but Super Mario was a great part of my childhood, collecting stars and saving Peach a gazillion times in Super Mario 64, destroying my cousins’ life balloons in Mario Kart, losing to Wario in Mario Party…all on my blue Nintendo 64. Ha, good times!
Anyway, Nintendo is now giving us a chance to save the Sprixie Kingdom, through Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury. And as usual, we get to play alongside Mario, Luigi, Peach and Toad, and decide whether we wish to play alone or with friends.
The combo will be available for Nintendo Switch on Feb. 12.
King of Seas
If you are into pirate games, whether it’s Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag, Sea of Thieves or even Uncharted Waters, then you might want to take a look at King of Seas, which will come out on Feb. 18.
King of Seas is an action video game set on a very dystopian and unfriendly pirate world. In this game, the player will have to embark on an unexpected journey, fighting epic battles, doing quests and strive to become king of all pirates.
The combat system of the game is really thrilling as it allows for cannon battles, nautical strategies and even outmaneuvering other ships.
Players will also be allowed to conquer settlements, discover long lost treasures and gain reputation among pirates and thieves.
Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood
Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood is an action video game published by Nacon and it is part of the World of Darkness game series.
It follows the story of Cal, a werewolf banished from his werewolf tribe, who decides to fight against a corporation by the name of Pentex which pollutes the world. He becomes an eco-terrorist and uses his werewolf abilities to achieve his goals.
In this game, players will get to explore, track enemies and spy on them, and fight either as a man or as a werewolf. There is also some customization, including a skill tree through which the player will set Cal’s strengths and weaknesses.
Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood is set to be released on Feb. 4.
Ghosts ‘n Goblins: Resurrection
Ghosts ‘n Goblins: Ressurection is a reboot of the original game and if the name didn’t already give it away, it’s about ghosts and goblinc. Well, you won’t be playing either of those, but rather fighting them, and a lot more creatures too.
The players will take on the role of a knight, Arthur, who fights all sorts of creature in the Demon Realm. The game features an updated (and quirky, somewhat Monthy Python-esque) art style to complement the classic platforming gameplay.
Ghosts ‘n Goblins: Ressurection will be released for Nintendo Switch on February 25.
Bonus: Control PS5 and Xbox Series X/S re-release
Control is a third person adventure video game, revolving around Jesse Faden, who is on the verge of being promoted to Director of the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC), a U.S. government agency that investigates AWEs, meaning Supernatural Altered World Events.
The game starts with a certain corruptive presence invading the FBC and Jesse is the only one with the power to stop it. Jesse is in charge of making things right, meaning unfolding supernatural coup d’etats, fighting bizarre characters, discovering new abilities and of course, uncovering secrets that the government is fighting to keep under wraps.
Control has won over 80 awards since it originally released in 2019, and is now naturally coming to next gen consoles. It should come out for Xbox Series X/S and PS5 on Feb. 2.
And so concludes our list of awesome games coming out in February 2021. I hope you enjoyed it, and stay tuned to SQUAD, as this is a monthly review!
