But what if not every member of your household is in the optimal age range to enjoy Dark Souls? Don’t worry, I got you covered. Here is my personal selection of great games you can play with your kids in 2021, with the minimum age required for all players to fully enjoy these games.

New Pokemon Snap

Developer: BANDAI NAMCO Studios Inc.
Publisher: Nintendo
Release Date: Apr 30, 2021
Platforms: Nintendo Switch
Age Rating: Everyone

New Pokemon Snap is the game I’m the most hyped for in 2021! This is a new version of Pokemon Snap, a 1999 game where the only goal was to take good pictures of Pokemon. You just needed to get comfy on a small auto-driven train, gather apples to attract Pokemon’s attention, and get your camera ready to earn that Pulitzer prize for photography.

New Pokémon Snap arrives on April 30!

Pokemon Snap is the first game I ever played. Even though I am not a kid anymore, I can’t wait to get back into the Pokemon Snap universe! Throwing apples at Pokemon until they exploded to take a perfect picture was one of my goals – and it sure will be again this April, when New Pokemon Snap releases on the Nintendo Switch.

Mario games are a sure value when it comes to family games, but Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury takes it one step further by including two games in one. Besides the colorful Sprinxie Kingdom, you can also play in Bowser’s Fury, a scary world ruled by the big bad turtle. There is a mode for everyone, which makes it one of the perfect games to play with kids and family in 2021.

Sports Story

Developer: Sidebar Games
Publisher: Nintendo
Release Date: 2021
Platforms: Nintendo Switch
Age Rating: Everyone

It is time for the whole family to get back in shape! Sports Story is a brand new game coming to the Nintendo Switch this year. Its name sums up what the game is all about: Sports and Story.

Sports Story - Announcement Trailer - Nintendo Switch

The Sports part might be the easiest one when it comes to making a game for everyone. But unlike games like Mario Golf: Super Rush, Sports Story brings more of an old-school RPG vibe. The graphics are similar to Stardew Valley, and you can move around town with a view similar to the old Pokemon games.

And that’s where the Story part of Sports Story comes in: you can fight in dungeons, carry out espionage missions, find hidden treasures, or take a break on a boat. All that happens in-between sports games, of course.

I hope these few ideas of games you can play with your kids in 2021 will help you share some quality gaming time with your loved ones, whether it is their very first game or not. Stay tuned to SQUAD for more gaming news and content!
