We have had some great games release in 2020, from CoD: Warzone to Doom Eternal and even Phasmophobia, and with December almost upon us I am excited about the best games coming out this month.
Chronos: Before the Ashes
Chronos: Before the Ashes is the prequel to Remnant: From the Ashes, a game where the world is all kinds of messed up, thanks to an ancient evil that arrived from another dimension. It’s the job of the remaining humans to group up and fight against this evil.
Chronos: Before the Ashes takes place a month before Remnant, and revolves around a hero who is set on saving his home from the lurking evil, which is not exactly an easy task. The game was initially released in 2016 for VR only, and has now been adapted for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Switch.
It will be available on December 1, 2020.
Empire of Sin
For those of you who enjoy crime and mafia games, Empire of Sin should definitely be on your wishlist.
Empire of Sin is a strategy game where the player takes over the role of a crime boss in the Prohibition era. The player can hire underlings to help manage their criminal empire, from casinos to brothels and other questionable businesses.
As under Prohibition rules all manufacture and sale of any type of alcohol are prohibited (duh), alcohol plays an important role, being one of the strongest types of currency in the game. There are countless breweries the player can use and like everything else in the world, the quality of the product determines its value. Players can also create alliances or start wars with other gangs.
This game is set to be released in December 1, 2020.
Twin Mirror
Twin Mirror is a third-person adventure game in which the player takes on the role of Sam, a journalist who returns to his hometown after years away, to attend his best friend’s funeral. Little does Sam know that the quaint and seemingly innocent town of his childhood has a lot of secrets.
This game gives off a Man of Medan vibe, and since I love The Dark Pictures franchise, I am definitely excited about playing this one. Plus, it’s coming out on December 1, so the wait is almost over!
Immortals Fenyx Rising
Immortals Fenyx Rising is all about a Greek soldier who gets stranded on an island after an accident. Upon waking up on this island known as the Golden Isle, Fenyx is determined to rescue the Greek gods and goddesses from the titan Typhon, who is feeling quite vengeful, after Zeus banished him to Tartaros.
The game features an open world, where there are seven different regions inspired by the Greek gods. This Golden Isle is filled with all sorts of creatures from the Greek mythology, such as cyclops, minotaurs, and Medusa.
It seems like a fun and relatively casual game to play, and it is going live on December 3. Our own Jason Lepine had a lot to say about it.
Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age
Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age has initially been released in 2017, but is now being published on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, on December 4.
The game begins in the kingdom of Dundrasil, which is being invaded by monsters. The main character, who is an infant at the time gets put into a basket and floats away from danger, and is found and adopted by an old man named Chalky.
He is later on wrongfully imprisoned and meets a friendly thief who helps him escape. The two are joined by two mages and three other companions. Together they all set out on a great adventure. I cannot tell you more without spoiling the game for you, so you’ll just have to play it and find out the rest for yourself.
Cyberpunk 2077
Cyberpunk 2077 is an action videogame set in a fictional place called the Night City. This city is the home to the high society, meaning the rich, the very rich and the incredibly rich. The whole place bursts with glitz and glamor, a sense of power, and people who enjoy modding their boddies.
Cyberpunk 2077 reeks of Altered Carbon and I love it! In this game, the player plays as V, a mercenary outlaw who seems keen on finding the key to immortality. We get to play in an open world with lots of stuff to do, lots of weapons to acquire and upgrade, deals to make with both sleazy fixers, desperate celebrities and even AIs.
After a string of development delays, Cyberpunk 2077 is set to release on December 10, 2020.
Who’s Your Daddy?
Nope, I am not kidding, there is a new game being released on December 23 and it’s called Who’s Your Daddy.
This is a lighthearted multiplayer game in which one player plays as a baby and the other player takes on the role of the father. The idea of the game is quite simple: the father has to make the house baby-proof and keep the baby from dying, while the player playing as the baby has do to anything in their power to self-destruct.
Think of A 1000 Ways to Die, but in parent-child version. The baby can attempt to end it all by drinking bleach, sticking cutlery in electrical outlets, and so on. At the end of each round, the players swap sides.
And there you have it, our personal list of the best upcoming games of December 2020 to look forward to. Stick around for more gaming content and news!
