Why you should be excited for Chivalry 2

Chivalry was a 2012 medieval warfare game that lightened up some of my boring teen days. The awesome plate armor, the realistic-looking swords and shields, and just about everything the characters wore and did gave me the feeling that I – or better yet, my character – was a gallant knight, meant to run into battle, save my comrades and of course, slash someone’s head right off.

Then the game was more or less left to oblivion when other medieval wargames like Mount & Blade and Conquerors Blade started coming out. Nevertheless, Torn Banner Studios never gave up on Chivalry, and are currently working on the sequel which is set to come out later in 2020. In this article, we’re going to go over why you should be excited to play Chivalry 2!

Why you should play Chivalry 2

Returning to the battlefield

Chivalry 2 is a multiplayer medieval slasher featuring massive 64 player battler. The PvP is really amped up in the sequel, and I expect we will be diving into some very bloody battles.

The new game is supposedly going to bring an interesting narrative twist to the multiplayer mode, by having players fight across multiple connected stages. That means a lot of action going on at all times.

Aside from the focus on PvP, the game will allow players to take get into all sorts of other actions. That means we’ll get to loot, pillage and siege as we go along the way.

Why you should play Chivalry 2

According to the developers, combat in Chivalry 2 should be quite involved and definitely different from what we had in the first game. It will have a lot of different layers and strategy to it. You’ll have to learn how to survive waves of arrows coming your way, how to duel against multiple opponents at a time, and how to ride your horse in battle. The maps and battlegrounds shown in the game’s trailer also seem to be pretty exciting, or at least they do to me!

For everything we know, Chirvalry 2 is shaping up to be an awesome game for lovers of the medieval warfare experience.

Chivalry 2’s story

Chivalry 2 takes place 20 years after the events of the first game, and releases the player into a medieval land completely destroyed by war. The story revolves around a hero trying to overthrow the King and claim the kingdom for his own.

I’d love to tell you more on the story, but I feel I’d be spoiling the game, so I won’t. I can however tell you that you’ll get to choose between four different classes: Archer, Vanguard, Knight, or Footman. Each class will have its own perks and skills. But don’t think too hard on this, as the game, much like Albion, allows you to switch classes.

Release date

Chivalry 2 will hit the Epic Games Store sometime this year. We’re not yet sure of the specific date – this thanks to the current pandemic – but Torn Banner Studios is determined and confident the game will come out in 2020.

As far as we know so far, there will not be a Steam release. The developers stated it will be available exclusively on the Epic Games Store in 2020. However, they also said that within two years’ time, they expect to expand to other PC platforms, so we might just be in luck.

Eager players can already sign up for the Chivalry 2 alpha.
