Top 5 best MTG cards from the Kaldheim expansion

Magic: The Gathering – Kaldheim is a very interesting expansion and it comes with a whole range of new opportunities to make plays. On top of that, there is a multitude of extraordinary cards you can use. It’s been regarded as one of the strongest sets since Throne of Eldraine due to several cards being extremely efficient.

If you are a competitive player who likes to stay ahead of the meta, you are properly wondering what Magic: The Gathering – Kaldheim cards are the strongest and best. Here’s our list of the top 5 best MTG cards from Kaldheim.

It’s pretty easy to see why Doomskar is great. It’s an extremely cheap board wipe. It may be a 5-mana spell, but you can pay two mana to go and exile the card thanks to the Foretell mechanic. Then you pay 3 mana when you eventually cast it. The card itself is versatile, and you will find it extremely easy to adapt to your set.

This card pays 5 mana either way, and even if it has a tempo loss on turn 2, it can pull off board wipes starting with turn 3, which is incredibly important.

Best Cards from Kaldheim

Birgi, God of Storytelling / Harnfel, Horn of Bounty

This is one of the two-handed cards and you can get some pretty interesting benefits from it. You have the Birgi god that can be cast as a horn. This red artifact makes it easy for you to discard a card to exile the top two cards you have in your library. You can simply choose to play them in that turn.

The card itself is very good because you can enjoy the boast abilities twice during a turn. You also get one red mana upon each spell cast.

Being able to boast the creatures twice every run is very helpful since it gives that extra edge and new winning opportunities. Having a deck of rituals and fast mana or wheels will help a lot, since you cast the cards you want, exile the ones you don’t want, then use the wheel. You get a new 7, then repeat the process with added exile cards.

Best Cards from Kaldheim

Orvar, the All-Form

This is a 4-mana, blue 3/3 legendary creature. Upon casting sorcery or instant spells, you can target one or more permanents. You create a token that will copy permanents. It also happens whenever an opponent pushes you to discard a permanent, since you get a token. If you’re looking to play with a certain permanent a whole lot, then this card is extremely helpful.

Orvar is a very good commander for the tribes that don’t have few members. That means you can easily create a deck around it, while still being able to boost your chances and win.

Notably, you can use it to create a combo with a Dramatic Reversal, Twiddle, and the Isochron Scepter.

Best Cards from Kaldheim

Maskwood Nexus

Some consider the Maskwood Nexus to be the best MTG card in Kaldheim if you are playing EDH. That being said, this 4-mana artifact will transform your deck into a tribal deck. You will transform the creatures you control into pretty much every creature type. The effect is applied when they are not on the battlefield. You can use it to create a 2/2 blue Shapeshifter creature token if you use Changeling.

The card helps quite a lot if you have under-reported tribes.

Starnheim Unleashed

Starnheim Unleashed is a 4-mana white sorcery card. You can use it to make a 4/4 angel that has both vigilance and flying features. It also has foretell, and you can use that for XX white. Add mana into it, and you get an angel for each 2 mana you spend. Simply put, this helps you create an army if you want. The ability to create a 4/4 white Angel Warrior is what makes the card very powerful, and a lot of decks like the Azorius skies will make great use of it.

There’s no denying that Kaldheim comes with some great MTG cards, but we consider the five listed above to be among some of the best. Not only are they a pleasure to use, but you will find them extremely versatile on the battlefield. Sure, some of these are more suitable for certain play styles, but it’s still a good idea to check them out!
