Initially released on Windows in 2018, the hit roguevania Dead Cells is about to arrive to Android mobile devices. Already available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and iOS, Dead Cells will make its way to Android devices on June 3.
If you are unfamiliar with Dead Cells, in an interview with GameCrate developer Motion Twin listed Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and Dark Souls as their main inspiration for the game. It’s a fairly complex and rewarding action game, and we recommend grabbing a good controller if you plan on tackling it on mobile.
An ever-changing castle to explore
Each game of Dead Cells is different from the previous one. In this action-platformer, the castle you explore is ever-changing, with unique secrets, randomized loot, and different characters. To survive, you can rely on weapons you loot as you kill enemies, or on powerful magic spells. And you have to survive, no matter what. Death is permanent on Dead Cells. If you die, you lose everything and start from scratch again. You can’t have the coveted “souls-like” label without punishing failure, after all.
Dead Cells won the Best Action Game Award at the 2018 Game Awards, beating out major titles such as Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, Destiny 2: Forsaken, Far Cry 5 and Mega Man 11.
Motion Twin have teamed up with Playdigious for this mobile version of Dead Cells. Needless to say, the best way to enjoy Dead Cells on mobile is by connecting a controller to your mobile device. If you don’t have any, you can customize the HUD to change the size and location of every button, so the gameplay feels as comfortable as possible. This will still remain a challenge, as the quick pace of Dead Cells requires a lot of precision.
Players can pre-order Dead Cells from the Google Play Store until early June to enjoy 10% off the full price.
