Today Amazon Games announced that former Ubisoft Toronto managing director Alexandre Parizeau has joined the Montreal studio. Parizeau is best known for his work on Splinter Cell and Rainbow Six Vegas.
Parizeau has joined Amazon Games’ new Montreal studio in the role of studio lead. He has 20 years of experience in the gaming industry, a large portion of it being in executive roles. Parizeau is being tasked with leading the development of a new “competitive multiplayer AAA title based on new IP”. This multiplayer game will serve as the studio’s first title after being established in May of this year.
“Alex has a long track record of building talented teams and successful games, and is a perfect fit for what we aspire to create at our new studio in Montreal,” said Christoph Hartmann, VP, Amazon Games. “He managed the development teams behind major franchises during his time at Ubisoft Montreal and Toronto, and he instantly clicked with our team’s vision and creative leads, some of which he worked with previously at Ubisoft.”
During his tenure at Ubisoft Toronto, Parizeau was managing director on the development of Far Cry 5, Starlink Battle For Atlas, Watch Dogs Legion, and the upcoming Far Cry 6. Prior to that, Parizeau was a senior director on Splinter Cell Blacklist at Ubisoft Toronto. Before that, he held the same title at Ubisoft Montreal and worked on Splinter Cell Conviction and Rainbow Six Vegas.
Amazon Games’ Montreal studio was founded by former members of Ubisoft Montreal. This includes Luc Bouchard, Xavier Marquis, Alexandre Remy, and Romain Rimokh, all of whom worked on the Rainbow Six Siege team. Together, they helped launch and bring Rainbow Six Siege into prominence.
“When I first met the team, I was both impressed and convinced by their vision for a brand new competitive multiplayer experience. I feel very fortunate to join this great group of people to start a new studio and build the team that will continue along this journey. With the trust and support from Amazon Games, we have an exceptional opportunity to innovate and push the limits of what multiplayer gaming is today,” said Alex Parizeau, Studio Head, Montreal.
Alongside the development of the new AAA multiplayer title, Amazon Games is working on the development of New World, which is primed for release on Sept. 28. Additionally, the Seattle, Orange County, and San Diego studios are also working on other unannounced AAA titles. Amazon Games is also publishing Smilegate RPG’s Lost Ark in early 2022.
