The Crown Tundra brought an all new Regi- type Pokemon into the game, Regieleki and Regidrago. Along with these two new Pokemon we have Regirock, Regice, Registeel, and Regigigas. Like always, the way to catch these Pokemon is hidden behind puzzles you must solve.
In this article I will be telling you how to find and catch Regieleki. Be aware that Regieleki and Regidrago share the same temple, and you can only choose one to catch per game. If you need help deciding, I have an article detailing both and what they can do to help you choose.
First you must go to the Crown Tundra and do the introductory storyline. To get to the Crown Tundra, fly to Wedgehurst Station and talk to the guy in the green vest. Then select the Crown Tundra Station and you will be thrown into the story. You must finish the Dynamax adventure and then go with Peony to setup your base.
Then Peony will give you The Legendary Giants quest which leads you to the Regi Pokemon.
After obtaining the quest you will have to catch Regirock, Regice, and Registeel. The reason for this is because you need all three to open Regieleki’s temple. To learn how to catch them check out my guides on how to catch Regirock, Regice, and Registeel. Once you have them make sure they are in your party, and now it is time to go to Regieleki’s temple.
Regieleki’s temple is hidden and can be confusing to get to. The temple resides in Three-Point Pass deep within the Crown Tundra. To get there start by going through Frostpoint Slope to Giant’s Bed. Head towards the Old Cemetery and go through here as well. Just past the cemetery the path splits, keep to the left and you will find an entrance to another area. Go up this small slope and you will come across a large area of grass.
Be careful here, as there are a ton of large Pokemon that will pop up around you, such as Bronzong and Copperajah. So I suggest you take it slow to get around these bulky Pokemon instead of zooming through the grass.
When you get past the grass there will be a river leading into a cave. Go up this river and into the cave and you will now be in Roaring-Sea Caves.
Near the end of the river you will see land to your right and this will take you through the rest of the cave. As you go down the path it will split into three directions. There will be a path on your left, in front of you, and your right. Go to the path directly in front of you, and turn right as soon as this new path splits. This will finally take you to the exit of the cave.
Now you will be in the Frigid Sea. Make your way to the water, and look out for icebergs because these are actually Avalugg, and you do not want to waste time fighting them. Just head to the right and you will see another area of land you can bike onto. Go up the hill and turn left at the gigantic boulder, and you will find yourself at Regieleki’s temple.
Talk to the temple door to unlock this area as a flight point. The temple door will read “A giant of rock, a giant of ice, a giant of steel. When gather the three giants, the door of destiny shall be opened.” If you have Regirock, Regice, and Registeel in your party when you interact with the door it will open.
Before going in, make sure to save your game, and be prepared for the fight!
Preparing to catch Regieleki
Make sure to have plenty of Max Potions, Full Restores, and Revives to keep your Pokemon alive if you get unlucky. The reason I suggest Full Restores is because Reieleki has many electric type moves that can paralyze your Pokemon. Along with those you will need plenty of Pokeballs.
You can bring Quick Balls, Timer Balls, Dusk Balls, Ultra Balls, or whatever Pokeball of choice. The ones with the best capture rate are Timer Balls after 8 turns have passed, Dusk Balls at night, and Quick Balls but only on the first turn of battle.
As for your Pokemon team you want Pokemon level 70 or above, as Regieleki is level 70. Make sure to bring a strong False Swiper so you can get Regieleki to 1 hp safely. You will also need a move that can inflict sleep, as this will increase the chances of catching Regieleki. Since Regieleki is an electric type, it cannot be paralyzed, leaving sleep your best option.
The best False Swipers are Gallade, Venusaur, Parasect, and Mew. These can all learn False Swipe and a sleeping move.
I recommend choosing Zeraora as your main False Swiper if possible, since it has the ability Volt Absorb, and Regieleki has mostly electric type moves. Regieleki’s moves are Thunder Cage, Electroweb, Extreme Speed, and Magnet Rise. Pair this with Regieleki’s ability Transistor, which makes its electric moves do 50% more damage, and it can really pack a punch. With Zeraora up front though, you will only take damage from Extreme Speed. Then once Regieleki is low you can switch to your Pokemon that can put Regieleki to sleep.
If you do not have Zeraora you do have some options, but these Pokemon cannot learn False Swipe. Other Pokemon with Volt Absorb are Jolteon, Lanturn, Dracozolt, and Arctozolt. You can also get a Pokemon with the Lightning Rod ability instead if you cannot find something with Volt Absorb. Pokemon with Lightning Rod are Alolan Marowak, Pikachu, Rhyperior, Manectric, and Pincurchin.
You could also get Raichu or Seaking but this is a Hidden Ability for them, so it is harder to get.
You can also bring many ground type Pokemon which are immune to electric type moves. One great Pokemon that is also a strong False Swiper is Garchomp. As for inflicting sleep, you will need a separate Pokemon for this such as Venusaur or Gallade.
Remember to still bring a full team of Pokemon with you just in case some of them get knocked out.
Now onto engaging in battle with Regieleki – which is not shiny locked, by the way, so feel free to look for a shiny Regieleki. Before going into the temple the camera will pan up to show you two symbols. The symbol on the left represents Regieleki and the right represents Regidrago. Inside the temple you will see a bunch of circles on the floor. Step over the circles to match the pattern for Regieleki, and the room will start sparkling with electricity.
Below is an image of the pattern you need to activate.
The statue in the middle of the room will then light up. Make sure to save your game, and then talk to the statue. Then Regieleki will attack to start the battle.
Regieleki does not have the best defenses, so I recommend only using False Swipe on it. Once Regieleki is at red hp try putting it to sleep. This is more of an optional thing, as most sleep-inducing moves have low accuracy. So feel free to just start throwing Pokeballs if your moves keeps missing. Eventually you will catch Regieleki and you can enjoy your brand new Pokemon!
