Pokemon Masters EX is getting players horny on Twitter

Pokémon's latest hashtag is home to some hilarious tweets about... Pokémon Master Sex.

“Gotta catch ‘em all” takes a whole new meaning as Pokemon Masters Ex is currently trending on Twitter, but for the wrong reasons.

One year after its initial release, Pokemon Masters is getting a major update. Now called Pokemon Masters Ex, the game includes new events, a new game mode, and new Pokemon evolutions.

To promote it, The Pokemon Company launched a Twitter campaign with the hashtag #pokemonmastersex. The hashtag quickly took off, but not for good reasons: the lack of capitalization makes Pokemon Masters EX look like Pokemon Master Sex, to the delight of some twisted minds.

Pokemon fans quickly hopped on the bandwagon and took advantage of the unfortunate hashtag to share their funniest interactions in Pokemon.

A failed hashtag, but a marketing success?

Even if the marketing stunt didn’t go as planned, the hashtag #pokemonmastersex still took off and brings some visibility to Pokemon Masters Ex. This mobile game, less known than Pokemon Go, focuses on battles rather than capturing wild Pokemon. Pokemon Masters Ex lets you form a duo with the Pokemon of your choosing to win real-time three-on-three team combat.

If you’re more interested in #PokemonMastersEX than #PokemonMasterSex, the 6★ EX sync pair poll rally is live until Sept. 6. You can vote using the controversial hashtag to decide which duo from Season 1 to 25 you would like to see as the new 6★ EX sync pair.

If those tweets made you want to play Pokemon again, you’re in a good place. The Sword & Shield versions are still available on the Nintendo Switch, with the latest Isle of Armor DLC. The Pokémon Company also announced that a remake of 1999’s Pokémon Snap is under development. Players will have to wait a bit more before being able to photograph Pokemon on the Nintendo Switch, as New Pokemon Snap does not yet have an official release date.

And of course we have the somewhat controversial Pokemon MOBA Pokemon Unite to look forward to?
